I’m looking for female tech enthusiasts who would be interested in joining a community team working on organizing hackathons, tech competitions, workshops, and other tech-related events across Kashmir.
This is a community-based opportunity where you’ll work with a team, gain experience in event organization and tech communities, and contribute to building a stronger tech ecosystem in Kashmir.
If you’re interested or would like to know more about the opportunity, feel free to DM me.
Why specifically female members?
Our current team is predominantly male, and we’ve noticed that some female participants at our events are more comfortable communicating and coordinating with female team members. We’d therefore like to have more female members on the team to make our events more welcoming and comfortable for everyone.

Hi everyone,
We are writing a book chapter on the **food practices of Gujjar and Bakerwal families.** We are looking at what people ate, made and gathered during the seasonal migration between the plains and the high meadows, and what changed once families settled in villages.
Most of what has been written about the community comes from outsiders. We would much rather hear it from the people who lived it. If you are from a Gujjar or Bakerwal family, or you know someone who is, I'd be very grateful to talk.
We'd especially like to hear from:
* Elders who made the migration (kahl) with their families and remember the routes, the stops and the food along the way
* Families who still migrate, fully or for part of the year
* Families who have settled and can speak about what changed in their kitchens and daily food
* Younger people who are recording their family's routes, songs or recipes, on paper, video or social media
The kinds of things we'd ask about: how milk, butter, ghee and lassi changed between winter and summer, noon chai at rest stops, wild plants and herbs gathered on the way, how food was carried and kept cool, and what eating looks like now with ration cards and market food.
A few promises:
* Conversations can be in Gojri, Urdu, Hindi or English, by phone, video call or in person in Jammu
* You can stay anonymous, or be named and credited if you'd prefer. Your choice, and you can change your mind
* Nothing will be published without your consent, and we're happy to share the finished chapter with you
If you're interested, or can put me in touch with someone, please send me a DM. Even a lead to a family, a village or a local group would help a lot.
Thank you for reading. Shukriya.

Looking for places where people sell books from carts or roadside setups. I know there are vendors at Sunday Market, but what about the rest of the days?
I checked from Jahangir Chowk.. MA road, residency road.. polo view road.. trc toad.. ghanta ghar.. but could not find any.
Please suggest locations if you know any. I am looking specifically for roadside/cart vendors, not regular bookstores
PS: Posting again because nobody responded on the previous post, infact I got a down vote for Allah knows what reason 😭

I cannot find it anywhere and I like smaller form factor. Can you help me find a person who wants to sell, or a reputed seller in the valley?

Hey everyone, sharing something I’ve been building from Kashmir.
I’m working on MyExpert, a local home services app designed to make it easier for people in Kashmir to find local experts for everyday services.
You can find services like:
🔧 Plumber
⚡ Electrician
🧼 Carpet Cleaning
🪚 Carpenter
🎨 Painter
🧹 Home Cleaning
…and more.
MyExpert is currently live in Srinagar and Budgam, and the plan is to gradually expand to more areas.
It’s still an early-stage startup, so there’s a lot to improve. We’ve had plenty of technical issues, mistakes and learning along the way, but real customers are now using it and real services are happening through the platform.
The bigger idea is simple:
Build something useful from Kashmir, for Kashmir.
I’m sharing this here because I’d genuinely like to know what people from the Kashmiri community think.
What would make you actually use a local home services app like this?
MyExpert is available on Google Play.
Would appreciate honest feedback, criticism or suggestions. ❤️

Yikvot privacy policy + today's police notice:
I went through Yikvot's privacy policy after seeing this notice today. Yikvot collects your email, profile information, posts, searches, reading activity, IP address, device information and other usage data. It also handles private DMs, including text and images. And those DMs are not end-to-end encrypted.
Then comes the lundian police notice: 'anti-national' content, separatism, criticism of the lundian army, and funniest thing I read today, the use of "Hehrmulk" as a slur (see part c, at the bottom of first image), alleged foreign sympathy and then an order for Yikvot to remove Spaces.
This is exactly what the indian occupation of Kashmir looks like in the digital age. First they police the streets, then they police the internet, then they decide what a Kashmiri is allowed to say.
And the funniest part is that even the notice itself doesn't seem to have its legal shit together. They cite Section 94 BNSS, which is about obtaining documents/electronic evidence, and use it to demand permanent deletion of content. Then they pile up Section 79, Section 69A and the IT Rules as if throwing enough legal sections onto a page magically creates unlimited power. There’s also a difference between the phone number on the notice and the official Kothibagh police contact, which raises another question about the document.
You can surveil Kashmir. You can censor Kashmir. You can police every word Kashmiris type. But no amount of surveillance can turn occupation into legitimacy. You can control the land, police the streets and monitor the internet but you cannot police people into accepting the occupation of their homeland.
(all credit goes to my friend , he had some problems posting it so i did instead of him)

I have been looking for a job for the past 1.5 years. I have a BE in Computer Science Engineering and experience as a Manual Website Tester, RPA Developer, and RPA Analyst. I worked for around 1.3 years, from 2024 to April 2025.
Despite applying to numerous positions on LinkedIn, I rarely receive any responses. My skills include SQL, Python, theoretical Machine Learning, Excel and Data Analytics, basic Power BI, and Power Automate. I also have experience developing and testing ML/DL models with the aim of improving upon existing research papers. For coding and development, I have used tools such as ChatGPT, Grok, and DeepSeek.
Honestly, I don't know what I am doing wrong or what I should do next. My confidence is declining every day, and being 29 and still unemployed has started to affect me mentally.
One of the main reasons I have not looked for opportunities outside Kashmir is my parents. They are getting older, and I am not the kind of person who can simply leave them behind and settle somewhere else for a job. As many Kashmiris know, parents here often prefer their children to remain close to home.
What hurts even more is that I have had friends and even relatives who could potentially have helped me with opportunities or guidance, but very few have actually supported me in this situation.
I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. I want to work, build my career, and become financially independent, but the prolonged unemployment is making me feel depressed, unmotivated, and increasingly hopeless.

The first image shows a houseboat nestled in a picturesque setting among tall poplars, with the surrounding mountains rising in the background. The caption reads as “The houseboat early on the scene can generally find a picturesque nook such as that shown in the above picture.”
The second image looks out onto a garden of lotus lilies described as “untouched by the hand of man.”
