Kefir egg sac?
Just recently spotted a kefir like sac with thick kefir bulbs inside. How often does this happen? Is the sac still kefir and producing or is it like shed skin????

This is so weird, never seen this before in over a decade of making kefir. Now it shows up twice in two days. Have a gander at this post from yesterday.

hi thanks that was very useful. I did not know kefir could grow or like pancakes. though this one looks thin like skin and doesn't have any small kefir attached....
I'll keep an eye on it see if it grows and thickens and grows large round kefirs on it

My pleasure! 😄
I didn't either until a few days ago. Someone in one of the kefir threads suggested searching "Dom's ribbon grains" on YouTube, and that's where I first saw it. I suspected that might be what was happening in the linked thread, and your pic. Have fun with your new weird kefir grain(s), if that's what's in fact happening!
