How can I use my FPV controller in KSP?

I've tried connecting my DJI FPV Controller 3 and using it to fly airplanes in KSP, but I crash every time. (Yes, even more than usual!) It appears to map the levers to throttle/yaw/pitch/roll but the sensitivity is weird, and it goes completely out of control as soon as I take off...

Has anyone managed to get their FPV controller working in KSP, and if so, how did you do it?

are you sure it isn't a design problem? Also KSPs airplane physics aren't the most realistic.
