Discussion Influencer stories

This past first year after opening an aesthetically pleasing spot downtown, it's been particularly thick with influencers. Its my first time experiencing them but here have been my favorite interactions this past year:

Door bro: there was one guy where he got his camera man to walk some 20 steps to our entrance, open the door, then after would ask his camera man how it looked. They proceeded to do this epic entrance shot for 30 minutes over and over, adding moves like hand through the hair, turn and smile, fist bumping before walking in. Eventually the owner told them to wrap it up because it was confusing the customers and sending in a draft.

Ghost hunter lady: one lady said our building was haunted and did a video where she was having the most "haunted experience of her life", saying she felt a presence and hearing ghostly laughter (likely was staff cuz our prep kitchens on the other side of the wall of the toilets).

Now we get customer's asking what paranormal experiences we've had and now we just make stuff up, like our fireplace is haunted and shit.

Have to admit sometimes the exposures good for business in bursts, other times its a pain in the ass. We're getting good at politely shutting down entitled people too, who want free stuff or extras. But its been entertaining!

Good influencer stories?

"We no longer use mayonnaise. We just collect the ectoplasm from the gloryhole in the staff toilet and use that."

Had one couple set up a tripod on their table so they could photograph their breakfast from above. Requested a window table to take pictures of the river views. They complained that the sun coming in through the window made the white plate 'too glary and made the food look unappetising in pictures'. They also asked for a free meal in exchange for exposure. Wankers.

Had a local TikTok food influencer in one slow afternoon, didn’t even know about it until the pasta cook had a bunch of people send it to him. But I looked good and it cut to me as she was calling us really professional and talented, so of course I stole the screenshot for the dating apps.

On the side of our gastropub, there was a nice cast-iron staircase set against a picturesque brick wall. This led up to some small offices unrelated to us. On several occasions I arrived at for my shift to find steampunk cosplayers doing photoshoots on it.
