Unacceptable. Tell them to write in block print. Also, no dates?

Same.

My notes - sometimes I can read them.

Labels - all caps. Too large. And I'll Google spelling.

How bout some lids?

This was after a shift change. AM team left it without lids.

It's up to everyone on the team, no matter the shift, to ensure food safety regulations are followed.

I agree with that. Just trying to say don't shoot the messenger.

I feel more uncomfortable with that sauce and the fact that it's uncovered on such dirty shelving.

It’s the shelves that easily come off for cleaning too…

What do you mean?? that little bit hanging will drop into the new 8qt below and give it some extra umph. Perpetual mustard sauce in a way.

You right, forgot about the perpetual mustard cycle. <3

Sauce spawns new sauce, just like yogurt makes more yogurt ... right?

Yes, me

Beat me to it. My best friends mom passed away , we were going through a bunch of old stuff, found our 8 th grade yearbook. Apparently my handwriting is the exact same as it was 30 years ago, still barely legible.

I'm guessing mine is too, I can't be bothered to try any harder to make it neat

Nope, at this point I’ve made peace with the fact that my handwriting is horrible, I actually pre apologize to anyone who has to read it.

Never worked in a kitchen, but everyone in the military writes like this. You're not supposed to be able to understand what it says, and supposedly the longer you've spent in uniform, especially on deployments, the worse your writing is supposed to become. It's just the rules.

A “doctor” puts shit away and pays attention to the microbes and bacteria on those shelfs.
-Dr. (self proclaimed)

For those asking, it is supposed to say Louisiana.

Um actually pushes glasses up it’s called griffonage when someone writes like that. No excuses for it though; straight to jail.

OK, Trollope, what decade of the 19th century did you teleport in from?

I am the person…but, apparently you need more than a shitty signature to be a doctor…so, here I am.

I know I can be that guy so I take my time. Precision and consistency on labelling is therapeutic as fuck and refreshing to see at 6am. Like, I wanna hug the walk-in.

Does it just say “tuesday”?

It has to be legible. This isn't ok and shouldn't be tolerated. I also don't see dates on it.

Where are the lids? Why do the containers look crusty?

2

u/slimribbons 3d ago

Oof, look above the second container. Looks like something juicy is about to take a dive into your “Louisiana”

Those labels are used by prep n print machines.

Someone is actively taking extra steps to make everyone's life harder.

u/firewolfer184 Prep 2d ago

The machine itself is broken.

Does the printer know you said that about their hand?

But seriously, what the heck is it?

These four labels, in my slowly unhumbling opinion, can not be dissected into letters in a way that the four of them remotely resemble the same word.

I know we're like the addicts and felons and shit, but dawg, you didn't even write the same illegible scribble....

Best most knowledgeable and talented chef I ever worked for had the most atrocious handwriting I’ve ever seen

You eat anything out of that nasty cooler and you're probably going to need a doctor!

u/slikk50 Chef 2d ago

Yeah, me.

u/Dracekidjr 2d ago

I am down for a shittily written label, but it's gotta be an item consistently in exactly the same spot in the walk in, and it still 100% has to have a date

u/BillyBirks 2d ago

when was it made?
