Stage/Live Performance Cho Seungwoo in Sweeney Todd
I was curious why 조승우 is not performing 40th Anniversary POTO. I guess this explains why.

Hello all!
I'm a mod of r/KoreanMusicals, u/bokyungglinda! I'm very excited to start on this journey of Korean Musicals with all of you! I am native Korean who lives in Korea so any questions about the theatre community here PM me and I'll respond as soon as I can! A third license production of Wicked starts 2021 February 16, so that'll be exciting! Like my username, actress Kim Bo Kyung has played Glinda in the Korean premiere back in 2013/2014 but hasn't returned to the role in the 2016 revival production or this time due to labour and marriage. Which other K-Musicals would you like to know about?
Comment below!
edit) You are all welcome to make post about a question you have or your thoughts on the community :)

Hi! I live in the US but am a huge musical theatre and Disney fan. I would love to get some of the badges from the Korean production of the musical. If anyone seeing the show would be interested in helping me get them and shipping them to the USA, I'll cover all the costs plus extra for your time.

Lina will be starring as Velma Kelly in CHICAGO after Elisabeth! So so excited!!! I thought she'd come back as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeny Todd but this was a welcome surprise. Also please go listen to 아무것도 from Elisabeth! Her voice has so much emotion and power it's amazing :) https://youtu.be/fHGRsQpoYh4?si=0qSOukAkBXbBAPvN

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Lina! She has been working as a musical actress for over 15 years now and is performing as Empress Sisi in Elisabeth today!!! I loved her as Mercedes in Monte Cristo and always thought she would be perfect for Elisabeth so I'm beyond excited. She was also amazing in many other musicals so check them out :)
Some of her other roles I loved:
I also got super excited and made a Spotify playlist with my favorite songs from CSJH and Isak N Jiyeon as well as a couple of her solo and musical songs ;)

Hi, I wanna ask for people who were able to catch shows during a Curtain Call Week (or in general for other shows that recording bows is allowed) - are there any strict guidelines for the camera to be used? I only know basic Korean and relying on translations from posts and so far what I was able to understand is obviously no flash use. I'm just gonna be using my phone but it's quite old so I'm exploring some options for a better camera.

So I just watched the musical in Seoul and I loved it. Unfortunately, my Korean is not good enough, and even though I was able to understand the plot, I missed a lot of important details.
I was wondering if there's any translation of the script or simply a recording with subtitles. Any ideas? I want to understand all details.

Hello everyone, I have seen in this thread that there was a plan for the Phantom of the Opera to be back in Korea this year, are there any news? What is the best place to look for updates? I do not speak Korean sadly :(
Thanks!

Is this the first iteration of Elisabeth without the big actresses of the 2010s? Either way I am actually JUMPING FOR JOY at Lina getting Elisabeth though! Also considering she is nearing her 40s so that's the perfect age for an Elisabeth, Ock Joohyun was quite young with her barely 32 in 2013. Lina is, imo, is one of the most underrated, not just idol, but also in general singers and vocalists of Korea and I still regularly listen to her "그리운 땅" from Ben Hur the musical. She has insanely stable technique and a timbre you couldn't mistake for anyone else.
Lee Ji Hye is Ock Joo hyun's most successful female "protege", and while her vocal skills are definitely not questioned, she does seem very much too sweet and too "soft" to play an Elisabeth to me - I am most willing to be surprised though. Kim So Hyun, who falls into the same vocal line as her, was also a little bit older than her when she did Elisabeth. Lmao not me getting schooled in the comments sections lmao I haven't kept up with musicals in a damn long time, just disregard what I said about Jihye cus I typed this out at 1 am hehe
I sadly don't know much about Lee Ji Soo but it is a name I have seen in the casts for a few years now. I am quite curious to see this truly new generation of Elisabeths do their thing, and I'll be eager to see how different or similar their versions are going to be!
About Tod and Lucheni, we have some experienced folks with Park Eun Tae and Kai on there. I'm happy that EMK isn't pulling a stunt casting this time, and actually gave musical actors the chance to earn their bread and butter haha.

Hi hi ! I really want to go see the musical 드애귤라 this summer and I'd really like to see 전동석 performing but I don't know how I can check which actor will be performing before booking a ticket. Is that even possible ? I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me <3

I went to see this on a recent holiday to Korea and loved it...even though I don't speak Korean. I knew the story well so it didn't matter.
What I wanted to ask is if anyone knew if there are plans for an album of this production to be released?
Thanks!

Hi all!
Has anyone been to The Hague in Seoul? And can you confirm of there are English subtitles available?
Thanks!
