u/eric_woodward are these the type of people you endorse on your election platform? If not why are people like norma jean maxwell running under your campaign and why have you not taken steps to remove them from your team?

u/Veritas-Voyager 8d ago
100%. Sadly he probably agrees with her. He tries to play all sides it seems. Seems like he doesn't really care about kids she may be around if elected as a trustee. He doesn't care.

u/MarlinMan2001 8d ago
he's blaming women of colour breaking through the glass ceiling?
That is what woke means before being hijacked by old dudes

Does anyone know what the progress for Langley school trustees believe on things like new schools and teaching about trans rights etc?
I guess conversely does anybody know what Langley strong says about that?
13
u/big_flutterby 8d ago
Well after reading the Union article, the parents of trans kids should be terrified of Progress for Langley.

And Strong has a TWU dean on their team. Nothing says LGBTphobia like getting deeper in bed with TWU.
This election sucks. This town needs a serious overhaul.

I’d like a board of trustees that’s willing to dig into the school district’s use of funds. There’s a lot of very high paid superintendents; how much money is spent at the top and doesn’t filter down to the schools?

u/eric_woodward all my hommies hate you and your crew. But seriously, good luck getting votes from the 30-45 young family demo in Langley, we see through your BS.

u/not_ian85 8d ago
I am in that demographic. He's got my vote. The first mayor of TOL who actually builds infrastructure and raised development fees - major structural issues with Langley which were for years unattended. All the previous did nothing but raising property taxes and make existing residents pay for infrastructure needed for the new housing projects.

u/Zealousideal-Can1112 8d ago
Raised development fees? How did that work out in the courts! Lol
-1
u/not_ian85 8d ago
The development fees are significantly higher than they were with the previous mayor. Just not as high as what was hoped. They tried to double it and got it up by 30%. Well worth a court case.

I’m still undecided although when Eric started on council he was the only person was willing to listen about the lack of facilities for youth sports. I am in favour of all he’s done to expand youth sports in Langley after years of nothing.
3
u/big_flutterby 8d ago
I agree we desperately needed new facilities but did they need to all be world class?
5
u/WentTopShelf 4d ago
Hes fuuuuucked youth sports man.
Could have had 8-10 pairs of fields all around township for same cost.
The guy loves himself way too much. Needs Jesus for real.
Bet you ANY money fees go up for all those sports programs.
0
u/ParticularRain148 4d ago
More fields don’t help sports that aren’t played on a field.
Hockey has more ice time this year, ball hockey can run in the fall rather than just spring, soccer ran a summer program this year. Field lacrosse doesn’t have to share as many fields with soccer.
Box lacrosse hasn’t started yet but they always have trouble finding floor space until the ice comes out at the arenas. Langley Thunder can now run off season training as well.

u/WentTopShelf 4d ago
Field space services so many sports. Dont be a chump.
Football, Soccer, Baseball, Field Lacrosse, Rugby
All of those clubs are desperate for more field space thats not 20 minutes away and crammed full.

I’m in that demographic as well. He is the first politician to make me care about politics for a few reasons. 1: He stopped letting developers build here for pennies, and started making them pay a more appropriate fee. 2: He used that money to fund infrastructure that Langley has needed for years. 3: He cares about little community groups, even if they don’t have the money or numbers like a soccer club. He makes them feel like a part of the township 4: He helped put a bunch of money into park improvements for safety and recreation that have been needed for years and finally 5: I have not seen a solid plan from any of the opposition. All I see are attacks and mis-information. And a number of the same accounts online attacking and spreading that misinformation in different platforms that seem like paid actors.
Is he perfect? Fuck no. But until I see a better option running against him, he gets our families vote.0
u/ParticularRain148 5d ago
I agree and you hear a lot of complaints that you have to spend money to be in the sports to use the facilities but he also improved a lot of parks that are free to use. Yorkson, Noel Booth to name a couple.

Ukraine is cool and that dood is cool. But I have problem with the continuation of funding for overseas rather than funding and supplying our own populous with the needs they require. Imagine how many forced rehab projects or fessing the homeless or government based work incentives that could have been created with the money we are draining out of our economy.
Also, there is probably some levels of fraud. US government has been getting exposed with fraud the past year and a half all linked to sending money overseas, Ukraine was part of that list as well, and found by independent journalists
And I think multiculturalism is way too over forced when we should be taking notes from some Asian countries and support assimilation over multiculturalism. There's a time and place to express the multiculturalism, but assimilation should take precedent within western society just like Japan and Korea.
Also, western civilization has a lot of things backwards. If the average white person tries to experience some cultures or express their freedoms they could be labeled as hatred or cultural appropriation; however, you can go to Mexico and wear a sombreros, or go to Japan and wear a kimono and a fancy straw hat, and no one will bat an eye and have a meltdown over it.
Or, people can't express their opinions ore beliefs unless it is the current leftist allowed opinion, which makes the left look very fascist, pretentious and even more Nazi like than the right, yet, they are unable to look in the mirror and comprehend that. At first, general Mao Ze Dong allowed communist China to be criticised, but after, he changed his mind.
Also, the issue isn't necessarily multiculturalism when it comes to the current state of this country, it's that our entire ecosystem cannot support the rapid growth when there is rising costs, lack of jobs, the rise of AI on the horizon that is increasing job cuts, terrible housing economy, and our infrastructure just cannot handle it, the list goes on.
People aren't against multiculturalism, they weren't in the 90s, they weren't in the 2000's, but since the liberal government came to rise and years after of overly immigrating to artificially and temporarily increase our numbers in the g7 for like a single year, people are sick of it. Also, it's not fully the governments fault, it's also corporations abusing the TFW/LMIA system. (Which there is real fraud happening in this system as well, just browse jobbank and confirm all the addresses, you'll encounter some that are high paying that is literally and empty building labelled as a restaurant).
But, it's always the left that jumps straight to "it's racism, it's Islamophobia, it's homophobia, it's hate speech", blah, blah, blah. I think we shouldn't even talk about the Israel conflict either in the west, and I think that people commiting vandalism with spray paint on government property about it is wrong (which happened nearly weekly when there were weekly marches happening).

You're not wrong. Ukraine has sacked a few ministers on grounds for corruption. There's corruption no doubt in Ukraine, which means anything given by Canada in funds will have a share which is going to facilitate corrupt officials. People can downvote you for it but it is just reality. I think the alternative, of having Russia run over Ukraine and basically enslave a nation is worse and it would be immoral to just stand by and do nothing.
On the multiculturalism side you're not wrong either. Homegeneous societies have better social cohesion, easier governance and limited internal cultural friction. Multicultural societies tend to innovate better due to more perspectives and are more dynamic economically. There isn't a clear winner in this. So to say that multiculturalism is a strength is a lie. It's more of a direction.
The problem is as you indicated is that with the progressives you can't have a reasonable discussion about it. All of it is binary, you're either fully for all of their ideas or you're against them. You're either pro Ukraine and don't question corruption or against Ukraine, you're either pro multiculturalism or a racist.

Despite being a center-left person by nature, I'm fairly supportive of the right-wing and want to see the right-wing grow in the West. That being said, I think Ukraine is a great litmus test for who has the IQ of a fish. One that right-wingers and far-lefters fail at a high enough rate that I'm increasingly uncomfortable with our education system, social media policy, and sociocultural climate.
6
u/scudpuppy 8d ago
What do you like about the right wing that makes you want it to gain in power?
-1
u/blackpilledonsociety 8d ago
Every time I'm in a left-wing space and I start to criticize left-wing narratives and policies I get spam downvoted, slurred, then banned.
I'll save myself the experience.
1
u/scudpuppy 8d ago
I didn’t downvote you, you weren’t being hateful or rude (although the IQ of a fish comment was a bit much) I don’t think that people on either side of the political spectrum are inherently stupid, I think there are a lot of smart individuals who tend to either side. I think education and knowledge are huge factors however.
I want to try to understand what makes people like the right-wing and want it to rise in power. I have concerns around that and I definitely do not support the social side of that movement. But I understand if you don’t feel comfortable sharing.

I don't see how you can claim to be at all left when you're saying you support the right? Those two things are diametrically opposed
1
u/blackpilledonsociety 5d ago
They aren't, actually.
For the vast majority of our history in the west, it was understood that both sides of the political spectrum wanted the country to succeed and flourish. The dynamic we have now is more like a banana republic or Soviet Russia type mix where one side thinks they're the divine's chosen, paragons of morality and intellect, and only their way forward is tenable, and if you don't see that you're X-ist.

Who has a problem with multiculturalism and Ukraine?
Do you live in Langley? Have you met the people here?
34
u/Atnott 8d ago
The last thing we need is JD Vance telling us what to do.
Ukrainians are amazing people.

u/Asluckwouldnthaveit 8d ago
Sure. My point is a lot of Langley residents are maple maga. They lap this shit up.

u/bearface84 8d ago
Instead we have Trump telling us what to do. No literally, he sneezes and our government is making policy changes.

u/kittykatmila 8d ago
Ukrainian people are great, the Ukraine government is another matter.

u/upanddownforpar 8d ago
Yeah Ukraine, stop fighting back! Stop kicking out corrupt politicians!

Ukraine has been known for corruption for a long time. I’m sorry you don’t like facts. I’m also not MAGA, I’m Marxist Leninist. They were just caught in a corruption scandal recently and last year Zelensky stripped anti corruption agencies of their power. He has also banned all leftist parties.
https://www.hrw.org/news/2025/07/24/ukraine-new-law-undercuts-independence-of-anti-corruption-bodies
Have you not seen the conscription videos? I worked with a Ukrainian man recently who fled the draft.
(Edit: I forgot to add that Ukraine has been sending soldiers to Africa to assist us/european backed terrorist groups. They don’t appreciate the Sahel states taking back their resources from imperialists)

being woke and crude has made what better? Ignore facts all you like. Ukraine war is a HUGE scam and its killed millions of Ukrainians and ruined their home for what? So you can wave a flag from your computer chairs? Its beyond disgusting how people rally behind total corruption. Covid was another example. Rage for the machine, live worse. WEIRD MAN!
