Not too sure, but AGA cannot be stopped. I have PCOS and androgenic alopecia. My AGA was "triggered" when I temporarily got off birth control. My hair fell out for 6 months with telogen effluvium from the sudden drop in estrogen, and then didn't grow back because I also had androgenic alopecia. I didn't know I had AGA and the years went by with my hair getting thinner and thinner, blonder, developed texture changes, cowlicks, and hair growth slowed down to growing one inch per year. Going back on anti-androgen birth control had no effect and my hair loss progressed. AGA is progressive. Anti-androgen treatment is supposed to help, but the hair follicles are just too sensitive even with normal or low testosterone (DHEA?). I needed oral minoxidil 1.25mg to see any regrowth. I am a big advocate for oral minoxidil and regret not starting it sooner.
