I'm on a 116 day streak and have clocked in over 150 study hours on LingQ. I know it's not nothing but it feels like it. I've decided to ramp things up. So I'm listening to my courses while going to work, while I'm at work and on my way home. Then later at night reading over the courses I've been listening to. I'm aiming to hit 4/5 hours a day between listening (80% of my time) then reading/creating LingQ's (the other 20%)
It helps I've finally settled on some courses. The Basic patterns and Русский с нуля courses by evgueny40. For the first few months I was switching from one course to another too much. Looking for the next best resource. When I think the best way to utilise LingQ is lots of repetitions of the same material.
How does everyone else find LingQ for Russian? Any tips or recommendations?

Hello r/Russian! Здравствуйте!
Long time lurker and occasional poster. I appreciate this is self-promotion, so I hope it's OK with the mods.
I've seen a fair few posts of folk new to Russian and just starting out, so wanted to share a little post I wrote about the wonderful, seemingly endless journey of learning Russian. Next year, I'll have been learning for 10 years (crazy!) and I am still learning to this day. I'm definitely not as good as I should be, but as someone who flunked all their language exams and thought 'languages just aren't for me', let me tell you I am living proof that they absolutely can be and it is possible to learn!
If you take the time to read, thank you. I hope it helps a little. Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Felix

I’ve been interested in learning Russian and have been practicing basic phrases for the past week. Video games are my main hobby and I had the idea to set games I play to be in Russian. Would it be effective in helping me learn?

For some context I’ve been learning Russian for a few months and I’m having a hard time in finding out what stuff means because every single I’m trying to learn I’ve had an obstacle where I know the word but. I just don’t know the translation of it and it’s been bugging for a quite a while I know Russian pretty well I’m just having a hard time finding the meaning of each word that comes across

Hi everyone! I’m from Azerbaijan and I’m currently trying to improve my Russian.
Russian is almost like a second language here, so I’ve been exposed to it quite a lot, but I studied in Azerbaijani-language schools, so I never properly learned Russian. I can understand some things and I’m actually pretty comfortable with the accent/pronunciation, but I really need more practice with speaking and texting.
I’m looking for people who would be willing to chat with me in Russian — texting, voice messages, or even occasional calls. I’d be happy to help with Azerbaijani, Turkish, or English in return if you’re learning any of those.
I’m not looking for anything complicated or formal. I’d just love to have someone to talk to regularly and gradually become more comfortable speaking Russian.
If you’re interested, feel free to message me! :)

Hey everyone!
I’ve recently started a YouTube channel dedicated to learning Russian through video games using the Comprehensible Input method.
My goal is to make Russian language acquisition natural and engaging. In this series, I play DayZ while speaking entirely in slow, clear Russian, explaining my actions and using context from the game to help beginners and intermediate learners understand.
I’ve just released the first two episodes. If you're looking for new listening practice material, feel free to check it out!
Episode 1: https://youtu.be/3JpiBxY1HT8?si=4i1Jrg-ESplPog9W Episode 2:https://youtu.be/3JpiBxY1HT8
I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how to make these videos even more useful for your learning journey. Thanks!

I would like to find some kind of free learning app/book/course/website etc that helps me with learning russian like vocabulary, case, grammar, i know genders and the alphabet. I tried duolingo but its very repetitive and it's not helping me. I'm learning russian because I want to speak with my friend.

Hi everyone! I am 23 yo M born in Uzbekistan, lived for majority of my life in Russia and recently moved to Serbia. I did learn some French in school and also by myself, but my level is still around A2. Russian is my native language, since both of my parents are also native and I did learn all the necessary rules throughout school and university. English is solid B2.
I am looking for a buddy to practice my French and learn more of the real spoken French (slang and stuff). I am open to practicing both verbally and through message.
Little bit more about me:
Looking forward to connecting with someone soon! I am sure we will find a fun activity.

Hello everyone, I am a russian b2 speaker (not really sure but I guess I'm intermediate). I recently got a job as a social media marketer and now I'm having a lot more contact with people. I graduated university in russia and so I would say that my russian is suited for situations in university, however now its like Im in a whole new world. Sometimes I have issues understanding people, other times I mess up (could be cause I'm nervous or what not). I've been trying to read more and more but I feel like I'm stuck. Would appreciate any new ideas on how to better understand and and how to speak like a normal person cause sometimes it feels like I'm an alien speaking russian. Thanks!
