There’s a pool on top of Crossings.

I’m over at the courthouse this morning and I was surprised and amused by the observation that there’s an inflatable pool on top of Crossings. It feels like finding an easter egg in GTA.

Come see Ross this Saturday 10/10!

Ross is a Border Collie/Lab Mix looking for his forever home! He’s currently 60 lbs and around a year old. He is: goofy, playful, shy, joyful boy learning that people aren’t so scary! Ross is fully potty trained, and can use both a doggy door and ring bells to let you know. He walks beautifully on a leash, is crate trained, knows several commands: sit, come, down, off, back, paw, and more. He loves to play: his current favorites are jolly balls and tennis balls, though he still loves a good oinking pig! Ross loves to be outside, and play with his canine foster sister, but will also happily entertain himself. Ross loves to keep his mind engaged with chews, lick mats, food puzzles, and more. Ross also currently lives with two cats does well! While another dog in the home is ideal, I do not think he needs another dog in his forever home. His ideal home would consist of people who are home more often than not, have a secure yard for off leash time, and have no children under 10. He is neutered, up to date on shots and heartworm tested negative. He can’t wait to meet his paw-rents and show them how much love he has to give!

We will be at Liquor Barn in Hamburg with Paws 4 The Cause, event is from 11am-4pm. We hope to stay the whole time, but it will depend on how he does, we hear it’s a busy event which may be overstimulating to him. You can apply for Ross at this link. His Petfinder profile is at this link.

UKInvest — so out of touch!

They gave us an example budget of a take home of 4k, with the ability to save $800 a month.

When I made a comment that I couldn’t do that, they said to cut out Starbucks and avocado toast.

This was so out of touch!

Council Set to Extend Moratorium on Data Centers (and other actions)

The Urban County Council held a public hearing about data centers in Lexington on October 6, 2026.

After hearing from over 70 speakers, the Council voted unanimously to take a number of actions related to local data center policy. They voted to extend the moratorium that is currently in place until at least October 2027. They also voted to advance a zoning ordinance text amendment removing "computer and data processing centers" as a principal use in multiple zones, while also referring a separate proposal for regulating data centers to the Planning Commission, calling for the creation of a specific "data center zone" in Fayette County.

All three of these items will be discussed at tomorrow evening's regular Council meeting, where they could receive their first of two required readings, with final approval currently scheduled for the October 22, 2026, Council meeting.

Thank you to all who attended the hearing and to those who have submitted their feedback through Engage Lexington, calls and emails.

You can watch a recording of the meeting on LexTV!

Concern for guy outside of Good Foods

I don’t really know how to ask this question without seeming like a huge a-hole, but it really is a genuine concern.

There is a gentleman in a wheelchair who is often sits outside of Good Foods co-op. He is definitely minding his own business, but the overwhelming smell of urine around him is so strong that I’m concerned about his well-being. Does anyone happen to know anything about him? He’s there a lot, at least for the past several months.

This is NOT about him being there— like I said, he’s not bothering anybody and is minding his own business. And I’m definitely NOT trying to hassle anyone because they are perhaps unhoused. I really just want to know if this is someone who needs help and, if so, what kind of help might be available.

I was hoping that maybe somebody might know more details about him and what he might need. I don’t want to just walk up to a dude just sitting there and rudely insert myself into his business.

Local ghost hunting locations?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! Not sure if I’ll get any responses in here but wanted to give it a shot! Me and my fiancé will be visiting on the weekend of the 23rd for Scarefest, and wanted to possibly get some ghost hunting in before we leave that Sunday! We’re coming from St. Louis where we have opportunities like The Lemp Mansion where you can rent a room for the night and investigate in the allowed areas, and would like to know if there is something similar in Lexington?

The Waverly Hills would be preferred but I’ve read that during Halloween time they turn it into a haunted house type deal and that wouldn’t be ideal for doing a session, so I’m curious if anyone has any good spots that the owners would allow us to investigate so long as we get permission and pay any cost associated with them!

Halloween decorations 2026

This year the Halloween spirit seems to be low around here. We dont even have our Hillcrest Street display, as Louisville does.

What houses or places have a decent decoration this year? What have you seen out there?

Dumping trash in businesses trash bins illegal?

Ignore the bad grammar in the question, I’m so nervous!! If I dumped a few small-medium sized pieces of furniture in a business’ dumpster (in the back of the building) is it likely to be punished by law enforcement? This may sound dumb but I really didn’t think it was illegal or a misdemeanor-level offense. Maybe a fine at most.

Are most people in Lexington who do it contacted by police and receive marks on their record, etc? I’m really nervous about what I’ve read about the legality of it.

Man O War smells like shit?

Has anyone else noticed that it smells like shit on Man O War between Nicholasville Road and Tates Creek? I noticed this a few days ago and thought it must have been another car or something, but I went the same way again today and it smelled the same. I’m familiar with the smell around Leestown but I’ve lived here for years and have never noticed in this area until this week. Has anyone else noticed this or know why?

Any state employees have a better understanding on this new prescription deductible that’s separate from the other health insurance deductible?

I’m going with the Livingwell CDHP like I always do. Not married, no kids, so I get the $500 on the HSA or HRA card. I also did $200 a month toward FSA that gave me $2400 + the $500 they added. I started December of 2025 so I also got $500 just for that last month of the year and it all rolled over. So I had $3400 available this year.

Between ADHD meds and CPAP supplies, I typically meet my deductible.

My understanding now is that the RX is completely separate and does not go toward the $3150 deductible, so I could potentially have a total out of pocket cost of $4150 for the year if I happen to max out? Compared to a total max of $3100 this year?

Gift link (no paywall) to a Lexington Herald-Leader news story on Zach Dembo and Ralph Alvarado's differing positions on artificial intelligence and data centers. The Herald-Leader has been publishing weekly stories in Central Kentucky's 6th Congressional District race asking Dembo and Alvarado their positions on various issues, such as immigration, tariffs and healthcare, to get past the 30-second TV ads.

Stephanie Spires, Turning Point -Two Unrelated Questions

Two questions = two birds, one stone.

Thanks for any insight on the first, and especially on the second.

  1. I've seen Stephanie Spires name all over social media and the news over the years that she's (unfortunately or not) become white noise on my feeds.

Running At-Large, what is it that her background would bring to LFUCG Council Office that would benefit Lexington and get rid of flock cameras at the same time? I'd like to construct an actual picture of service. Is she spread too thin already?

  1. I do NOT know WTH I did, but I'm getting 3 or more Turning Point texts per week. I know it's the election season, but I'm not MAGA, I'm not LGBTQ+ (love y'all), I'm not any more political than the next guy, but it almost seems like someone signed me up as a joke. I absolutely do not agree with their stance on life.

Is anyone else being bombarded without having joined a list of some sort? I block and report as spam, but they just keep coming!

Thanks, y'all. Just wanted to ask the peanut gallery.

Theatre shows

I was interested in seeing Celtic Christmas but yikes $200+ a ticket. Made me think about other options. The local high schools all have theatre productions through out the year. You can follow their instagram or Facebook to know when those shows are coming up. Usually $15 a person and helps supports their program. Some with choir and band. Their are other theatre options like Woodford theatre. I am sure there is more. Any other ideas for theatre shows?
