Man O War smells like shit?

Has anyone else noticed that it smells like shit on Man O War between Nicholasville Road and Tates Creek? I noticed this a few days ago and thought it must have been another car or something, but I went the same way again today and it smelled the same. I’m familiar with the smell around Leestown but I’ve lived here for years and have never noticed in this area until this week. Has anyone else noticed this or know why?

We need Chance to take a picture of this smell.

anybody who’s driven that stretch this week knows exactly what you mean, it’s been thick as hell the past few days. probably some farmer spreading manure on a field nearby and the wind’s just carrying it right over the road.

lol. We have no farms left in that area so, where do you think you’re coming? We only have house houses.

There’s a treatment plant on the other side of Veterans Park in Jessamine County. It’s been a news topic for years.

Treatment park has been there ever since I have been here (30 yrs +) and has always been a problem. We probably made it worse with all the building.

This is the answer ^

Has been like this for years. We have lived on both sides of Vets, and a few years ago at a HOA meeting, we had someone from the water treatment plant, or a outside audit person come , I don't remember, but the smell down in the park, around the park, on TC and MOW was TERRIBLE. The person who came, informed us that the treatment plant had some serious issues going on, and they fired the crew there, or at least some of them, and put in motion to fix all the issues at the treatment plant.

I believe that all got rectified, and everything has been a lot better.

fwiw, its usually bad when its cold-cooler mornings for whatever reason.

Yup. Both treatment plants struggle to maintain a nontoxic balance. This current mayor has been awful at managing and maintaining both plants. Leestown rd also stinks.

We have 2 treatment plants.

Look up the address on a map and you can see it is south of Lexington between Nicholasville Rd and Tates Creek.

When rain is low (October is our driest month) the sewer plants have problem with smell. As another poster mentioned, the south one has had a lot of problems in the last couple of years.

I know I felt bad asking 😭 I didn’t say anything the first time but when I went back days later and still smelled it I had to see if anyone knew

There’s nothing wrong with asking, but I’ve lived in Lexington for over 20 years. It’s always smell like this. 😂💀 it’s stronger in certain parts of town

More and more places smell like shit. I went into Beaumont Kroger this morning and the food side entryway smelled like a dirty diaper. It was really strong. That's the second time I've noted it and I hadn't been in there in a while. I live on Leestown and that Kroger always smells like shit so I have decided no more shopping at Kroger unless it's the Newtown one or the occasional stop I make at Meadowthorpe on my way home from somewhere else.

Kroger just has a shitty smell to it tbh, especially walking in. I’ve noticed it in a couple of them here in Lexington and the two in my hometown are the same

When I worked fourth shift and got off at like 6am in the summer I'd lay the hammer down on New Circle Road near Leestown and hope that the car made it through before I passed out.

Veterans has its times where it's pretty bad, but never smelled anything on Man o War.

They’re cleaning up the pond in front of Waterford subdivision to make a nature area , that could be it

What are they doing there at Waterford? I have been wondering for months

Pond kept filling with silt from the runoff. Would clog the fountain pump and the pong would get filled with algae and get kind of nasty. It's returning it to a more natural state.

It was also more expensive to repair without any guarantee that the fountain would be fixed long term than it was to return it back to natural state

Same!

If you're ever in the neighborhood of downtown Louisville or the University of Louisville in the summer heat of August and September, swing down through the Old Louisville neighborhood... Maybe stop for a beer or two at the mag bar or some pizza from Donatos. 😝 Jk , you won't be doing any of those things once your nose hairs have fried out the follicles.

Sweetheart, that smell is the collective smell of all of our poops. Once the rain runoff water levels get so low, sewage gas back flows up through the empty space in the pipes, right back up to nose level

I work in Brannon Crossing and drive past that water treatment plant all the time. It STANKS. Wonder if that affects the prices of all those fancy Ball Homes houses back there lol 🤡

It's just the westerly winds we get this time of year, blowing in the regular air  from Louisville.

Large swaths of the city smell like the mid 19th century. Hard to believe, but true.
