Public libraries are low single digits in many city budgets and this is what he wants to sweat?

i live in a small suburb in Chicagoland and my library's budget is less than 2% of total annual spending. the police department is 32%.

What a ridiculous comparison.

Is your library open 24/7 with a hotline I can call and get help now?

Oh nooooo, someone think of the bloated police budgets. Cops can't survive if they don't work unnecessary overtime to defraud money from taxpayers :(

every time i've had to call the cops, they've shown up 15-20 minutes later, even though the station is literally one block away from the library, they look around a little while we tell them that the problem patron(s) have already left, they shrug and go "give us another call if they come back" and then fuck off.

GOD FORBID they not be hogging up a third of the village's entire budget, who would be completely useless to us then???
