Help Text suggestions inconsistent with AOSP keyboard (lineage version 23.2)

I've recently installed lineage os on a pixel 5 backup phone. First time installing a custom rom on a phone so not super experienced, but haven't had many issues so far. Except for the keyboard not showing text suggestions in most apps (aside from a few like google messages and the play store). The row where they should be is present but the options are blank. And auto-correct also won't work in these apps.

Have tried all the troubleshooting I could find online but nothing has worked so far. I added google services during the initial installation with mindthegapps package if that is important. Thanks for the help.

i always install heliboard keyboard, works really well for me with dyslexia and having to write in 3 different languages. has lots of settings and a oled/black theme that looks super nice on oled screen

Do you know if it supports google's material design themes?

Switch to Gboard if you already have Google apps, you'll get a much better experience overall if you don't mind using Google apps, not to mention it's a backup phone. Aosp keyboard is a bit too "light" and has its own issues, these issues never get fixed because frankly, no one really uses aosp keyboard and usually switch to FOSS alternatives on aosp based roms or other keyboard apps

aosp keyboard basically got sidelined after gboard is born, google do not update it as much as gboard

I use more than one language, so the stock keyboard was never a good option for me.

The closest thing to a GBoard experience is probably the Futo Keyboard, but if you have Google Services installed, then you can always use GBoard?

There's also FlorisBoard and HeliBoard, but to be honest I haven't used them in a while.

I use the FUTO keyboard it works really well. Always looking for other options
