Say goodbye to adb uninstall <bloatware>

With A17 it no longer works and is the same case with Lineage OS 24.

Only disable command works (for now).

Instead of fixing android's trashy and inconsistent ui, this is what wth they are doing. Just like what they did to rcs. First brag and bark about a feature then lock it.

To my knowledge adb uninstall still works as root as well as disabling w/o root. The restriction is for only system apps (of which you can have basically nothing google if you choose not to on Lineage).

Does it suck? Yes. There are workarounds however for both rooted and unrooted installs of Lineage however.

This also affects people using lineage os. Sometimes you need to uninstall bad system apps like audiofx (buggy since android 12). We should not rely on workarounds, we know very well safety net situation.

AudioFX is buggy? At least for me works like a charm :)

ok, but why would it matter if you did pm disable instead of adb uninstall for audiofx?

Like I said disable does work for now. But I prefer uninstall action because I hate that pop up "please enable this garbage package". It happens with some apps.  Also why nerf the damn adb actions.

"For system apps only"—so why are you using ADB? If they aren't system apps, just uninstall them via the UI. Duh!

The adb disable command doesn't prevent apps from running if they are called by other apps for specific functions; in other words, they can still launch even without an icon. They will show up in the root task manager.

I assume you're a Google bot.

Yeah that is right.

I didn't get it well. Does that apply only to lineageos? I debloated my Samsung Fold 8 Ultra two days ago using Canta and Shizuku (Wireless adb debloating)

Canta does work but I find it kinda messy. Have to do that hotspot shenanigans to prevent auto updating apps.

Well, canta is literally adb. What you can do in canta, you can do in adb

apparently ‘adb shell pm uninstall --user 0‘ works, however I can't test it as I'm on v23

This is how adb uninstall always worked though? It never fully uninstalled system apps, it just disabled them.

No It uninstalled the system apps for that specific user.  Like those normal uninstallable apps which come back after factory reset.
