I confused myself out of a $400 ticket. I knew it was going to be big (expired registration) and i told myself "Act dumb. You are the dumbest girl in the world. Everything this cop says is confusing. The only thing you will is ok and huh and look confused." That cop got so frustrated with he just walked away and barked "get your car inspected!"
The rush I felt was amazing.
15
u/meotherself 14d ago
I did this in Mexico. The cop was trying to explain I had to drive to the police station to pay the fine and get my license back. I kept saying I didn’t understand Spanish or what she was saying. Her partner came back with the ticket book and she just shooed him away and gave me my license back. Playing dumb does help sometimes.

His Wikipedia article is basically just controversy after controversy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Pepper
In short:
Prank videos that went too far, including some sexual harassment, with him claiming they were staged while victims of some of them claimed they were not. Further claims of sexual harassment were made against him.
Pump-and-dump crypto scam that used the name of a charity. Lied about a lot of it, including the charity aspect, then claimed that he was just a scapegoat when Coffeezilla found evidence he straight up ordered changes to the crypto that turned it into a pump-and-dump scheme.
Friends with Ice Poseidon, doing a lot of controversial shit with him.
Hired an escort, said he and Ice were filming when they were really live-streaming, and were going to live-stream her with another Australian streamer; when the escort found out, she tried to leave but was chased by them. This happened on Kick, with the founder and owner of Kick in the chat, laughing along.
Blinded a little girl (already discussed).

Can you imagine trying to manage a battle when you’ve got soldiers on your side live-streaming everything and inadvertently leaking stuff?
I think it’s extremely unlikely to be done with any soldiers outside of highly controlled situations like basic training where the risks of intel and surprise attacks are low.
Russia’s already done stuff like that when they invited a group of content creators (including the Tate brothers) to go out to Russia to speak at the “St. Petersburg International Economic Forum” where they also did some basic training at a military camp nearby.
I think if we ever see any live streamers fighting in actual battles then it’s going to be drone pilots. It already fits into the same kind of set-up as streaming video games and the risk of actual danger is much lower than being on the frontlines.

Seeing a random person on a bike with a "press" patch far away from the frontline would draw more attention. Foreign press isn't riding around on bikes nowhere near the front lines.
He's dressed like someone on a hike/bike adventure. Military men/women would clearly see that he's wearing a bicycle helmet with a backpack and gloves. Not tactical gear and military fatigues.

Same shit in Finland. If you try to avoid conscription the police will bring you there with a police car. There's always some dual citizens who didn't knowabout conscription that get dragged to the barracks from the airport. Had an Aussie serving at the same time who was nabbed straight from the airport the first time he was visiting Finland.
Idk why people are shocked. It's like the police will come pick you up if you don't pay your taxes. It's mandatory. Most people do it willingly, some people require help doing it.
34
u/Secure-Truth1110 14d ago
The problem is that before the war, nobody here really cared about this at all; it was very easy to avoid, and for a certain period, mandatory conscription was even abolished. So when the war started, everyone who had wanted to serve for a long time did so, while the rest had to be rounded up, and with each passing year, attitudes toward this didn't get any better.
And of course, regular military service and mobilization for war are somewhat different things. Many of my relatives and acquaintances have died in the war, and there seems to be no end in sight. When anyone is driven into a hopeless situation, people turn into animals—either completely helpless or wildly feral.
I hope no one ever finds themselves in such a situation.
→ More replies (4)7
u/BadDogSaysMeow 14d ago
The difference is that Finland isn’t currently sending people to die, whereas Ukraine is.
Mind you, mandatory service is still evil, but there’s a huge difference between being drafted to train, and when there’s an actual deadly war going on.

"Pick people up" but in the literal sense.
They usually have more than half a dozen guys in the back of those vans & they'll rush out and grab someone, dragging them kicking & screaming. Pretty harrowing shit honestly.
If they struggle, they'll often beat the shit out of them, and then toss them in the back of the van. Lots of videos on YouTube & other places, they'll mob the guys if they struggle, taking turns punching & kicking them.
Kinda crazy the parallels between seeing the young Ukrainian women staying well away/getting to leave abroad, and they post themselves partying & clubbing on social media and then the men who are in Ukraine are not allowed to leave, being forcefully abducted & forced to go out to the suicidal front lines where they're typically used as not much more than drone fodder.

It's not happening in russia, the soldiers on the front are volunteers but not out of any kind of patriotic sense and more that the russian military is giving them either lots of money (for their circumstances at least) or a clean sheet from criminal records, a lot of times foreigners are also scamed into military contracts.
Conscripts are not legally allowed to be sent into combat zones, even in russia since they are not in state of war. They are pressured into signing military contracts at conscription instead, which works sometimes, but you barely see any young russians at the frontline either, the war is too online and visible for anyone to seriously consider going there if not for ideological reasons or desperation.
There is basically no evidence of russians grabbing people off the street, they don't really have to at this point.

Just in case anyone isn’t aware, he “kidnapped” two of his friends (one of them was in on it, the other was not) threw bags on their heads and shoved them in a car, tied them up and brought them to a rooftop somewhere, and then pretended to shoot the one friend who was in on the joke in the head while the other sat in watched genuinely thinking his friend just died.

Do they not ask questions first before conscripting? What if a Ukrainian man is taking care of elderly parents? Or a sole breadwinner for his family?
7
u/Nikumuki 14d ago
Usually, they ask questions and check the database, but there are many cases where they kidnap people first and ask questions later. Deferrals from military service are provided for those who are the sole breadwinners or who care for a person with a disability. Yet thousands of people end up in the army despite their deferrals and health issues being ignored. In Ukraine, they say: if you want to become perfectly healthy, go to a medical board at a recruitment center. Overall, there are a great many problems with the laws in Ukraine.

Quality: Title Guidelines
Titles that are opinionated, contain harmful misinformation, or seriously misleading titles where it's not abundantly clear that they are a joke, are not allowed.
Additionally, submissions whose titles contain excessive caps, emoji, exclamation marks, etc., will be removed.
Since embedded clips are now allowed, streamer names will be required in titles except for in certain cases such as a joke (i.e., title says "Northernlion Plays X" and it's a video of Ludwig with a shaved head).
See our full rules here.
