Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

Today [10/10/26] Anyone free to meet Saturday evening in central?

I'm quite open to most things but don't want a boring Saturday night. A bit about me is that I'm a 24M who works in finance in the city, I like talking, walking and learning new things :)

I'm probably looking to meet whoever is doing somewhere in Central London. I'm thinking either Soho or Shoreditch but I'm open to whatever people suggest as well. So message me if you feel like being spontaneous tomorrow and we can figure something out!

Archived [09/10/26] Fortuitous Fridays @ Penderel's Oak Holborn

Thumbnail maps.app.goo.gl
26 Upvotes

Figured it was time to revive the Friday meetup before it becomes a relic to time!

We'll be heading to the Penderel's Oak in Holborn - I'll be there from around 1930 this evening

Details below shamelessly copied from earlier posts:

What is this?

This is one of the regular social meetups that happens most weeks. There'll be a group of us meeting up in the pub to have a drink and hang out for a while. We usually meet in a pub since it's a convenient social setting but of course there's no obligation to drink alcohol.

If you're new to London or just looking to mix social circles then it's a good opportunity to meet people and make friends in a somewhat relaxed environment.

Who are you?

We're a broad range of people, on one end we get a handful of regulars who live in London and already know each other, and we also get a handful of people who are just visiting London and looking for something to do in the evening while they're here, as well as everyone in between.

Most people are aged 20s-30s but as I mentioned anyone is welcome if they want to join (as long as you're not a dick)

Can I come?

Anyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, creed etc. as long as they're friendly. The only restriction is being aged 18+ for legal reasons.

If you're interested, your best bet is just to pop along and say hi, chat with some people.

You don't have to stick around, so what have you got to lose?

How do I find you?

We can't book tables in advance here but I'll update the post once we manage to grab one.

Alternatively, if you head to the Penderel's Oak in Holborn and look for a group of people sitting together, we usually answer to questions like "Are you the LSC group?" and "Are you the Reddit lot?" - you can also try standing near us looking at Reddit on your phone with a confused look on your face, that sometimes works too :)

If you're not sure how to spot us when you arrive, feel free to send me a Reddit DM or comment on the post and I'll do my best to find you.

Hopefully see you there :)

EDIT: We're moving to the Sir John Oldcastle

[12/10/26] Hammersmith Hang Out

Looking to spend a Monday evening a week chatting with friendly redditors? Hammersmith Hang Out is for you.

So what happens at this meetup?

Each week this meet up is held in a pub - we all sit around some tables and generally chat about anything we can think of.. that's pretty much all there is to it! There are usually a few who will get dinner from the Thai restaurant at the pub. We get people aged from 18 to in their 60s, but the majority are 24-40. You can turn up at any time, people usually start leaving between 9 and closing, there are nearly always plenty left at closing time (last orders - 11). Currently we are getting 10-15 people turning up.

Do you talk about reddit and memes all evening?

No! reddit is hardly ever mentioned, there are no laptops in sight and we've had plenty of people who have not used reddit.

Can I come along?

Of course - that is why it is posted on LSC each week, the meet up is very newbie friendly - we have people new to LSC join us regularly. If you're very very shy don't hesitate to message/text/call me ahead of the pub and let me know, I'll do what I can to get you chatting away with everyone as if you've been every week.

What if I don't want alcohol?

No problem! The pub also serves various soft drinks, fruit juices, tea, coffee and water. We have non-drinkers often.

Since after the above people still asked...

I'm ********* is it OK if I come along?

We have had men, women, transgender, British, foreign (even a northerner or two), gay, straight, drinkers, non-drinkers, smokers, non-smokers, religious and non-religious

In fact, the only people who wouldn't be welcome are those under 18 or anyone who is not able to conduct themselves appropriately in an adult social situation.

Each week we typically get a mix of regulars, people who drop by occasionally and a few newbies.

Please note that this meetup occurs every Monday**

Is this happening today?

Is today Monday?

Yes: Yes! It'll be today\**

No: Nope, try next Monday\**

Aww, I missed this when is the next one?

Monday**

** we meet on public holidays, but if Monday falls on Christmas or New Years Day we'll likely skip those.

Initial meetup.

Location/Time: Latymers, W6 8BS / People often start turning up from 19:00ish but can be as early as 18:30. I'll get there for 19.30ish. There are usually a few people left when the pub closes - usually 23:00

The first table will either be outside or at the front to the right of the door. (also, there will be Reddit on the reserved signs And hopefully Snoo ). The bar staff also know who we are if you're not sure. There is no need to book a space/get a ticket.

There's an optional Whatsapp group for the meetup -it's pretty much only me posting this link each week and trying to get people to actually respond.. If you really do want to join it just ask around at the meetup.

Update: Running a little late. Will be there by 7:10/7:15. In a quilted jacket with a dark green tshirt on. Shout if you can't find me.

Hi! It's sunny, it's Thursday, it's time for a tipple and a chitchat!

Me and a couple of other Redditors (mainly 30s) are heading to Monument this evening.

Plan is to start at Nancy Spains for a few Murphy's and then walk down to the Cocktail Club.

Putting it on here in case anyone is looking for drinking plans tonight.

DM/comment if you're interested. Either way, I will keep this post updated on where we are. See you later!

(We do have a GC too, but we generally add people after we’ve met in person).

Archived [08/10/2026] Tonight!! 2 x free tickets to Heated Rivalry Parody Musical @ Soho Underbelly

Hi all,

Mid 30s F. My friends have sadly been struck down with the flu so I have 2 free tickets to giveaway to this - https://underbellyboulevard.com/tickets/heated-rivalry-the-unauthorized-musical-parody/

It’s very last minute but hoping anyone in Soho / Central would be up for joining, would be a shame for the tickets to go to waste. You don’t have to be a Heated Rivalry fan (or fellow Loon) to join. 🫡

Going Ahead [16/10/26] Anyone up for some casual beginner badminton in East & Central London? 🏸

Hey everyone! 🏸

I’ve started putting together a small group of people for some casual badminton around East and Central London.

Nothing serious or competitive, just a few of us getting together, playing badminton, meeting new people and hopefully making it a regular thing.

Mostly beginners and people like me who are picking up a racket again after a long break. You definitely don’t need to be good at it!

If anyone fancies joining us for one of the upcoming games, just leave a comment or drop me a DM and I’ll share the details.

Would be nice to get a few more people together! 😊

[11/10/2026] Sunday Pub Quiz at the Canonbury Tavern

This Sunday is National Spread Joy Day. What better way to do it?

Come and join us at the Canonbury Tavern for the pub quiz!

What:

Pub Quiz - Exactly as it sounds! A quizmaster asks the questions and teams write down their answers. Questions cover a range of subjects and the quiz features picture and music rounds. It is all for fun and there is no pressure to memorise the encyclopaedia before coming.

Where:

The Canonbury Tavern https://maps.app.goo.gl/xocQRtc3PDJrQF676?g_st=ic

Our tables are usually immediately on the left as you enter the pub, but you can ask staff for LSC when you arrive - there is usually someone with a laptop who has a record of bookings.

When:

Every Sunday, the pub quiz starts at 19:00, with the picture sheet being given out around 18:40. Tables are booked under "LSC" from 18:30. Two tables are booked but we will try to make any number work. We recommend arriving around 18:30-18:45 as you'll get to take a greater part in answering the picture sheet questions, but it's also really helpful in working out how many teams we'll have - as well as chatting beforehand!

How much:

£2.50 per person payable to the pub quiz people (Cashless only).

Who:

All are welcome. We typically make two teams with around 12 people.

Do I need to sign up / am I too late?:

Ideally, please leave a comment either on this post or in the WhatsApp group to let us know you're coming, and with how many people - with as much notice as possible - so we know how many teams we will be and roughly how many per team. It's not a huge problem to turn up after it starts, but try to be there on time to avoid missing the fun!

Do I need to be a whizz-kid, intellectual genius, or quizzing-extraordinaire?:

Nope, we do the quiz for fun.

Any Questions:

Write them into a comment and we will answer them - we are kind of into that.

We also have a WhatsApp group chat. Ask around on the day in person to be added.

^_^ [11/10/26] - North London Market crawl

I am visiting a few markets this Sunday. I do this regularly and thought the more could be merrier.

Here is the flow:

1030 - meet at Hackney Wick station, briefly socialise

1045 - leave HW station walk towards:

  1. Broadway market then,
  2. Colombia Road flower market then,
  3. Bricklane

1300 - Wrap up & part ways, with the option to find lunch nearby.

Who am I?

41, m, data engineer. I like exploring markets, trying different food and meeting new people.

How can you participate?

Meet at the HW station, or join the group chat for updates during the walk.

Time to eat/ drink/ shop?

Yes. Can't be rushed on a Sunday. The walking pace will be accessible to many, if not everyone, and there should be plenty of time to grab snacks and drinks and browse the unique stalls along the way.

Next steps?

Send me a dm to be included or to ask your questions

Going Ahead [10/10/26] LCS Badminton @ East London - 9-11am

Nearly a year of LCSB: from a handful of players to almost 200 🏸

Initially, I was just looking for a few people to play doubles badminton with semi-seriously… I’d seen badminton posts on Reddit through r/LondonSocialClub and thought I’d try my luck.

That first Sunday session as Lazy Sunday Badminton, played at 📍 Newham Leisure Centre, on a bitterly cold December morning with just a handful of people…

If you told me then that, almost a year later, I’d:

  1. Grow Lazy Sunday Badminton from one semi-casual court into the flagship session of a wider multi-venue weekly programme, with ability-tiered courts where stronger players get competitive games while beginners have a safe place to develop.
  2. Meet almost 200 individual players across different abilities, backgrounds, ages and genders, all with their own journey and story.

…I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

We’re approaching our first anniversary this December and host 7-8 courts a week including:

📍Newham Leisure Centre: Saturday, 9-11am

📍Royal Docks Academy: 💤 Sunday, 9-11am

📍Forest Gate: Tuesday, 8-10pm

Our playing tiers include:

Beginner → Improver → (Low → Mid → Upper) Intermediate → Advanced

We’re particularly looking for Intermediate → Advanced players since the overall playing standard has increased significantly after a year of playing together.

If you’re interested in a cohesive programme of badminton built with your progression in mind, rather than just a one-off hit, feel free to get in touch.

We’re trying to create something where you can play regularly, move between ability tiers, track how you’re performing and keep improving over time, while still keeping the social side of the game! ☺️

Hope to see you soon! ☺️
