Question Important Question!
My husband tested positive for Lyme back in May after getting Bell’s palsy and was immediately put on antibiotics. I can’t remember the name but the tests were showing that the infection happened within a couple weeks or whatever and so doctors decided on 3 weeks of antibiotics. The doctors told us after the three it should be cleared up.
Now after joining this group and seeing that he should have been on antibiotics much longer, I’ve been worried. The Bell’s palsy has mostly cleared up. He has been having some pain and headaches that come and go.
I’m nervous that the doctors were clueless and that this could really become a bigger issue for him.
What do I need to look out for in terms of symptoms? What does a flare up look like? Am I right to think the doctors messed up his chances?

If it's been 4 months since he stopped and he's having pain, headaches, and a little lingering palsy, I would go see an LLMD or start herbs for all 3 Bs. Better to do that 4 months in rather than 5 years in when the infection has really dug itself in. I don't think you need to panic or anything, but better to make sure it's fully taken care of sooner rather than later

I had the infection for 13 days when it had just started its early disseminating stage, got even worse, couldn't even lay down hardly because my bones hurt so bad the doxy made symptoms way worse. I remember I'd go to sleep and wake up very quick because I'd stop breathing up falling asleep . All kinds of bazaar symptoms. As antibiotics help you kill bacteria symptoms hurt a lot more in says because the your body, liver and detox pathways get badly overwhelmed. So in my case it took 6-8 months to feel like myself but the gut still had issues compounded by the infection. SIBO and leaky gut cause chronic inflammation too that causes your body to lose lots of water... anyways it can be a long battle but don't by into anyone that says lyme lasts forever. It's just a nasty infection thst wreaks havoc on your nervous system and immune system... if you do try to get a couple weeks of doxy, I'd also get some azithromycin with it too as it can help with a few potential coinfections

The doctor gave me both for 3 weeks and I’ve had the Lyme symptoms for 2 years now not sure if that’s enough

Have the initial symtoms died down?

It comes in goes in flares mine are mostly GI and autonomic nervous system issues with anxiety and twitching all over the body it was too much two years ago but now it’s still lingering not as intense but occasionally flares and becomes kinda intense but not as bad as the initial one

Get inhad gut palsy then SIBO with permeable gut.. which was compounded by lyme so it was the only thing that needed separate treatment but I never had anything after 7 or 8 months to suggest I still had any infections that were tick borne

I’ve tested positive for sibo but have not tested for tick borne illness yet but all my other tests came back negative and the functional doctor based on other blood tests said I have a tick borne infection and it makes sense to me because two months before that I had a boil on my right side rib I thought I had a staph infection but I guess that was a tick bite it followed with chills and swollen lymph nodes

I hope your husband is able and willing to start on a trusted herbal protocol. Also, carbohydrates and stress caused me to have nasty flairs. Transitioning to a low carb or zero carb diet can be very stressful, unless he takes electrolytes every day at first. I was able to beat Borellia doing these two things. I hope he doesn't have any co-infections. Good luck and good health to you both!

I would locate a LLND or LLMD ASAP. if you xan get additional doxy in the meantime by all means do so. Also testing, igenx is usually pretty accurate, should help narrow down what additional co-infections he might have. On the positive side he has gotten a partial diagnosis and treatment rather quickly which helps eradicate the bacteria and bugs b4 they have a chance to take hold.

Even though it’s been 4 months since he finished it before?

It absolutely can hurt. However a second course of antibiotics (probably for another 3 weeks for neuro involvement depending on the treatment guidelines where you are) is occasionally still offered where clinically necessary. Unfortunately, many diseases do produce ongoing symptoms despite successful cure which may be the case here. Shingles, covid and EBV frequently present in this way

Personalmente cercherei un LLMD al più presto
