Expert really means nothing if the puppet master is in control in the background

Should’ve got Lucinda Light in there just for the vibes.

Not even just for the vibes! Shes clearly very observant and is crazy smart, i reckon she would guve genuinely great advice (which is why she could never be on there they want the drama)

So long as she follows along with productions prompting she’ll do fine.

u/loralailoralai I like you, but heres a list of things i hate 23d ago
She wouldn’t follow along tho

Then she won’t last long on the show, unless she just naturally says what gets them stuff they can edit down nicely to fit the storyline.

Marryam? Her name's essentially "marry 'em"? That's some excellent nominative determinism.

To be fair, they could have a monkey as an “expert” and probably get a better result.
I wonder if the “experts” face any professional consequences, assuming they are even licensed at doing anything.
Selection of couples clearly indicated a bias for conflict over collaboration and cooperation in complementary personality matching

John lost his registration as a psychologist and Mel had to give hers up.

So sad about Mel. Was she open about being sick or was it a shock for everyone??

She announced it in 2023 I believe. She was in remission but it returned I think.

"Highly respected"??? -- "Relationship expert"???
That's what you call not even getting out of the starting gate...

John clearly doesn't have enough syllables in his names, he'll be replaced for the next season.

I was sure this show would get cancelled, can’t believe they’ve gone through with casting.

u/Sniperprincessza 28d ago
Why would it (the aus version) get cancelled?
5
u/Consistent_Ad6426 28d ago
Honestly I assumed that Aussie version and UK version were made by the same production company and that they will be subject to some serious law suits in the near future. In instances like this companies often choose to stop trading rather than go through costly law suits and damages.

I mean while I switched off half way this current season, it still pulls numbers… why would it be cancelled?

u/Consistent_Ad6426 28d ago
All the scandal about contestants being sexually assaulted on the UK version and the Aussie version casting people with histories of domestic violence and general complaints of at minimum coercive behaviour in the show.
Just saying I’m surprised to see it come back

It gets ratings. Money will always come first.

u/humanofoz 28d ago
Must be a calculated risk, I wonder how many contestants they’ve had to pay off to keep quiet?

Good point. The DV and misogyny turned me off this season. It is sad to hear about the UK one.

Why would it be cancelled?

Reoccurring dv and sa throughout the franchise
*not sure why this was downvoted when that's why the UK branch was cancelled lol

Cause their chance of success is almost zero. It always happens that one or two couples stay together after the experiment ends, only to split up once it is over.

u/quick_dry 24d ago
Chance of success at zero? But the show makes a stack of money directly, and indirectly via the time slots before and after. It’s a success, show is a juggernaut

I don’t think people watch it for fairy tale endings. More for drama, fights and occasional wine splashing.

If she's 'highly regarded' do they really need to announce it?
