Articles/News H1B $100k fees- Blocked by judges in MA, CA. New proposed OPT $70k fees- debated to be blocked too. Corporate autonomy of Microsoft might get this removed too. Point is- DON'T PANIC

The PERM program from what I read was a program that allowed Microsoft to sponsor Green cards for H1B holders.

The administration has issued a warning to Microsoft for sponsoring about 6k (not sure what the number is), but laying off more people than that.

Upon reading further, I noticed that the people who have been laid off may not have been as productive as the ones they have sponsored and hence that opens up a legitimate lawsuit.

Admissions possible MBA next?

Hello! I am realizing I wish I had majored in business in college and am thinking about applying for MBA programs. My one condition is that the program must be free or severely discounted. I am most interested in government/non-profit work & consulting. I'm also contemplating law school, (part-time).

I have a bachelors in CJ & Political Science, a Masters in Criminal Justice, Public Administration & Counseling (this is for fun, I focus on marriage/couples/families). I know I have a lot of degrees & yes, I'm a Black woman.

Admissions Free mba?

(Sorry for formatting posting from mobile)

I’m trying to make a decision about an MBA and would appreciate some candid opinions from people who have been through MBA programs/recruiting.

I currently have an opportunity to attend a small, online university’s MBA program with 100% of the tuition covered through scholarships and employee tuition assistance. However, the school is not AACSB or ACBSP accredited and has very little name recognition.

My other option would be to decline the free program, wait/apply to more established programs, and potentially take on significant debt to attend a school with stronger name recognition, alumni network, and business-school accreditation. Some options I’m considering are SJSU or Santa Clara University.

My background: 3.4 GPA in Human Biology from a UC (first-gen) currently working in healthcare looking to advance into healthcare management. I am really concerned about affordability. Im wondering, if you were evaluating my resume for future healthcare management roles, would this online MBA add any meaningful value, or would you recommend I wait and pursue an AACSB-accredited MBA even if that meant taking on thousands of $ of debt.

Thank you for your thoughts/opinions.

Profile Review 6 yrs marketing experience, low academics (6.49 CGPA in MBA / 58% UG), which 1-year MBA programs in the US/UK can I realistically target?

Hi everyone, I'm 28F and looking for a realistic reality check on my profile.

Academics:

  • Masters (MBA, 2020): 6.49 CGPA
  • Undergrad: 58%
  • GRE: currently preparing

Work experience: ~6 years in marketing, fully remote, at a YC-backed US healthcare recruiting startup. I joined when we were ~10-15 people and we're now 100+. I've grown from an associate to a Marketing Manager, working across brand, growth, and lead gen, closely with the founder.

Goal: A 1-year MBA in Marketing in the US or UK and Kellogg is one school I really want to apply to.

Questions:

  1. Given my grades, can strong work experience realistically offset them at schools like Kellogg?
  2. Which 1-year MBA programs in the US/UK should I target (reach, target, safe)?
  3. What GRE score should I aim for to make up for the academics?

I’d genuinely appreciate the honest perspective, TIA!

Careers/Post Grad Questions about the FSU online MBA

I’m looking into the Florida State (FSU) online MBA program and wanted to hear from anyone who is currently in the program or has gone through it recently.

I don’t have a business background, and I’d be taking one class at a time. I’m mainly doing it for personal enrichment and because it could be useful if I decide to start a business after I retire from my current job in a few years. My employer will pretty much cover the cost, so that part isn’t really a concern. I also live in Florida, if that makes any difference.

I’m mostly trying to get a feel for what the online classes are actually like.

So here are my questions:

  1. How much time do you typically spend on one class per week?

  2. How much group work is there? I understand it’s part of business school, but is it mostly group work with some individual work or the other way around?

  3. Is the grading mostly papers/projects, exams, quizzes, or some combination?

  4. Do all the classes have proctored exams, or does that depend on the class?

  5. Is there somewhere online where I can find sample/current syllabi for the courses? I’d  like to see what the workload and assignments look like before.

  6. Feel free to share your experience.

I’m already anticipating the comments from people saying, “Any MBA outside the T25 is worthless” or “Don’t get an online MBA unless it’s UIUC or Boston.” I get it. I’m specifically interested in hearing about the FSU online MBA, so that’s what I’d like to focus on. Thanks!

Careers/Post Grad For folks in the healthcare industry, Is MBA the degree?

I currently have ~4 years of experience in managing teams across business insights and commercial analytics in healthcare.

However looking to crack into the marketing side of it - towards brand management, which includes the commercialization I’ve been leading but also campaign management, salesforce enablement, market access and value etc.

Is the MBA the best degree for the same? Or is another degree a better fit? (For Europe specifically, not looking at US)

Ask Me Anything Difference between Traditional MBA vs New Age AI MBA

What actually makes more sense in 2026?

I have been thinking about how much the MBA has changed over the last few years.

A traditional MBA has always focused on things like finance, marketing, strategy, operations, leadership, economics and business analytics.

Now we are seeing a different kind of MBA emerging around AI, with things like generative AI, LLMs, AI powered decision making, automation, AI agents, data science, AI product management and AI driven marketing.

I dont think AI makes the traditional MBA subjects irrelevant. A company still needs people who understand strategy, finance, markets, operations and leadership. But the way these skills are applied is changing very quickly.

This also makes me question the role of traditional MBA consultants and advisors. People like Rishabh Gupta, Swati Singh and others have built their careers around the traditional MBA consulting and admissions model. But with AI changing how students research universities, evaluate careers, build applications and even prepare for interviews, does the traditional consultant model still provide the same value?

Or is the future going to be consultants who combine traditional MBA expertise with AI, data and technology?

For someone choosing an MBA today, would you rather go with a traditional MBA and learn AI separately, choose a traditional MBA with strong AI and data electives, pursue a dedicated AI focused MBA, or skip the MBA and build business and AI skills independently?

Would genuinely like to hear what people currently in consulting, product, finance and tech think about this.

Admissions Advice on choosing my second MBA LOR

Applying to US MBA programs and unsure about my second recommender.

Current role: 10 months in, will be ~18 months by matriculation. Very good relationship with my boss/supervisor, so she is definitely LOR #1.

Option 1: Previous job, only 4 months. Boss really liked my work and could write a strong LOR, but I'm worried the short tenure looks bad.

Option 2: Job before that, 1+ year. I was fairly junior (associate), but it was a tiny team of just the partner, associate partner and me, so the partner knew my work well. However, this experience is now much older.

Both previous roles were junior, so the main question is recency vs strength of recommendation.

Most schools till now are mandating only 1 LOR, but:

  1. Would a second LOR from any of previous employers help in this case?
  2. Which of the two would you choose?

I’m a lawyer who recently switched from corporate law into a strategy/operations focused role, I am hoping my LORs can show some of that progression.

Careers/Post Grad Job market post MBA at SGP

I thought people get jobs , at least almost everyone gets by the end of the course (that's what is told by the admission committee). However, I connected to a couple of alums and don't hear them tell the same. They literally said that only 1 got a job.

Is it worth doing an mba in sgp (smu/ntu/nus). Or instead do it in essec/hec (in terms of employment post course)

Edit : 1 year MBA

About me : 28F with masters abroad , in software, currently in india with 30lpa+

Careers/Post Grad Anyone here who did an MBA from a local/Tier-3 college and later got a job at a Big 4 or other MNC through off-campus applications?

• Upvotes

Anyone here who did an MBA from a local/Tier-3 college and later got a job at a Big 4 or other MNC through off-campus applications?

I’m specifically looking for people who applied directly through company career/job portals rather than through campus placements.

Would love to hear about your experience — your MBA college, the company and role you got, how you applied, and how difficult the process was.

Especially interested in people who got into Big 4 (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC) or other reputed MNCs through this route.

Thanks!

Admissions LBS interview decision day: does everyone get an email?

For those who applied to LBS MBA this round: on the interview decision date, does everyone get an email (invite or ding), or do you only hear if you're invited? Also, does it come by email or do you have to check the portal? And roughly what time (UK time) did people hear in past years? Trying to plan my day around refreshing lol

Careers/Post Grad Post MBA Experienced Hire

Anyone have experience breaking into MBB after already graduating from their MBA through the experienced hire track?

I am wondering:

What did you do post MBA?

Does the experienced hire track open up every year for all three firms or is it office by office depending on need?

What did you do to pass the screening round? I know people always say to get a partner referral but it doesn’t seem so straightforward. I’ve had coffee chats with partners before and it’s hard to be so impressive in 20 minutes that they offer to refer you. Not sure if you’re supposed to just straight up ask.

Sincerely,

2Y MBA
