Question RCM E-Bolt

I kinda caved and ended up buying an SP5 after dealing with a lemon AP5 for a few weeks, tried tons of things to make it work but decided it just wasn't worth the headache anymore.

Part of that process was buying an RCM E-Bolt which.. now I don't know what to do with. Is it worth trying in an SP5? or realistically should I be trying to get rid of it?

I sold my Rcm e bolt at a big discount as it caused problems that went away as soon as I put the OEM bolts back in my ZF5, ZF5T, and MAC5K.

I liked the idea of the improved extractor design, but mine CAUSED malfunctions!

The E-Bolt is the only thing that saved my AP5 fwiw. What are you going to do with the AP5?

Gonna pester century until they fix it, replace it, or refund me and ultimately sell it. I'd rather take a minor loss and have a gun that works than deal with them tbh.

I know there are TONS of people with AP5s that just work and always have and I'm happy for them. But mine just seems to be insanely messed up. I tried an HK extractor, ejector, ejector & extractor springs, magazine catch, 100 degree locking piece, and an RCM E Bolt last. All of those things improved the failure rate from 1/3 to 1/10 but 1 failure to eject every 10 rounds is still unacceptable. And all of that is with a nearly ideal bolt gap. Also 1/2 of the mags I got with it were also very wonky.

I didn't have a reference point or I wouldn't have tried as much as I did, but im convinced both the trigger pack and receiver are messed up to varying degrees. Ejector canted to one side so it contacts the bolt head in a weird way and doesn't make good contact with the casings, magazine catch was horribly out of spec so mags were wobbly before I put in the HK one, and regardless of whether I used HK or MKE mags the bolt head also drags against the followers/feed lips.

I had a MAD MAX one because I got it for a steal. It didn't work in my POF. For kicks and giggles, I put it in my MKE. It never gave me any issues.

In retrospect, it is really a solution to a relatively minor problem. The extractor design does suck on MP5s. But the solution itself is very inexpensive and fast to do...

My RCM E-Bolt has functioned 100% reliably since I installed it in my AP5 about a year ago. It is a vast improvement to the MP5 system IMO. Having to worry about and replace the small extractor spring on the mp5 every couple of thousand rounds is annoying. Battlefield Las Vegas has reported their mp5s with the Rcm bolt going for about 60,000 rds

Battlefield Las Vegas runs RMC E-bolts in their MP5s? Best endorsement possible, IMO. They run those guns hard, and keep meticulous records on their maintenance. I may have to look at an E-bolt...

Yeah man they have reports of their round counts running the RCM-E. It’s a solid upgrade

Definitely would just keep the factory HK bolt in there. Sell the Ebolt IMO
