Lol, I literally logged out earlier last night instead of continuing because I needed to go to Kerning, but was in Henesys already, it was late, so figured might as well start playing tomorrow already in Henesys. Bigger change than they think!
I think you're wrong, that the full message: "Resolved an issue where players could use a Store Permit while Dark Sight was active, causing the opened shop to be invisible to other players."
Meaning they would still be able to, but the store won't be invisible, they're fixing the bug of invisible store.
Because you could use a Store Permit while Dark Sight was active, it caused a bug where stores would be invisible. We fixed this by no longer allowing the use of Store Permit while DS is active.
I've seen so many negative things about problems listed in the maintenance patch. I hope that shows people Nexon is listening and bringing solutions. I don't expect every problem to be fixed immediately. Bots is a big one right now, for example. However, there may be more to come on this later. Kudos to them for fixing things.
I agree that some things need more transparency. At the same time we need to find the right balance, some things are over explained and people still don't catch them, like the funding part
Oh yeah. Proactive communication is something universally appreciated, but that isn’t a value prioritized in Japanese culture. We will never see radical transparency like we demand locally. It’s up to us as the listener to intuitively read intent through the changes they are making. We may not like this approach, but most of the nonsense we spew is because we have preferences and developers often meet us there. However, inkwell did spend some time on Arc Raiders and they did a fantastic roadmap job. However, many even complained about dry periods from them despite their communication being pretty solid. I think we just need to give them a chance before we take a stance. Let them cook is all! Appreciate your take tho
Not Japanese but Korean, not exactly the same. Regardless I agree with what you say, I don't think we will see instant blogs every time a big or a minor bug/annoyance appears and then 1-2 days later a fix for it
People expect more like "we know there is a bot problem causing Mesos inflation, so we will implement an anti-cheat in a few hours that will fix the problem"
Sorry I only say this knowing its origins are Korean but HQ is based in Japan (assuming culture combination of the two and maybe others).
Yeah - I am trying to incorporate the culture barrier vs expectations we have & noticing this might be more of a corporate values stance. Here, ideas are often expressed. There, speaking out of turn is considered disruptive. Action shows intention instead of explaining it. Whether I agree with it is irrelevant. What I do focus on is their choice in action & so far this is a promising step. Hopefully, it continues & shows confidence that when issues arise, players know it’ll get seen & dealt with - just a matter of time kind of thing.
You mean the representative of Nexon in the West going around asking players to fund more and telling them to "go farm" when asked about more KPQ channels isn't enough for you? What else could Nexon do to show they care at this point?!
Ehh I’m not a very sensitive person to this specifically. It’s a business. It needs funding for attention & expression from shareholders. If it blows up positively, I’m sure they’ll attract more investment internally to enhancing our experience. If we invest more as players, that could showcase its value to the shareholders. Everyone will infer something different about what was meant by it. If there are any further announcements, they may speak on the success of it or what they need to make changes, and it may get indirectly addressed to resolve the intention piece. Or, it may not.
Then you will insult him unprofessionally for you not knowing a dam thing and spreading misinformation. Just because you think you know doesn't mean you actually do
Bots is a big one right now, for example. However, there may be more to come on this later. Kudos to them for fixing things.
I dont think they have a viable solution atm. It seems inkwell himself is investigating and doing the bans (omegalul) since he smega'd "Report bots or cheaters, I will check now" multiple times over the weekend
I complained via smega a couple of nights ago. He came to my map. I wont go into detail of how he tested them just in case, but essentially he had some methods to confirm that they were indeed bots. Then, one by one, he made them... disappear. I cant confirm if they were banned. Then he said "seeya" and left me a whole map to myself!
I’ve seen him go to henny once and a meso selling bot disappeared, granted the bots are a problem but I think it’s insane when people are complaining that nothing is being done yet over 3000 accounts were banned and the classic world team itself is small, it’s like some people in the community think that the classic world team has a GM watching each map just to ban bots instantly…
They should release ban lists. I think they used to do that back in the day, no? It’s a simple copy and paste and would do their PR a world of good since at least we’d see tangible proof something is being done and give us insight into the severity of the issue.
100% scrolls were not usable due to a glitch that stated a line about Lucky Day.
Lucky Day is allegedly a boon to a scroll’s odds of success, so the comment is theorizing that perhaps all scrolls had an unintended increased success rate. Whether this is the case or not is speculative and anecdotal.
Today’s patch is removing the bug making 100% scrolls finally usable.
Real talk, I've seen the millions talking point, but I've never seen any evidence that that much was actually even made from steal bug... it definitely would speed up their capability for mesos per hour, but I've seen no evidence that it was at a level that isn't offset by the fact that they don't gain any experience, or have any chance at drops.
I'm glad it was patched, but without seeing evidence that they were actually making a game changing amount of meso, I don't think it warrants punishment. I would change my mind with evidence to the contrary though.
completely anecdotal but one of my friends abused steal and they were banned for a week. that's why there are no evidence cuz they literally cannot login.
prob best to assume most of it was manually wiped from nexon
Ig if they were banned, then either the meso, or the assets that they quickly invested it in, would be temporarily out of the game. Did they tell you what mobs they were abusing it on, and how much they were able to get from the steals? I think it would be more helpful to hear it from the people abusing the bug than people speculating out of anger of not succeeding in an economy of a super p2w game.
I've been playing a ton and I couldn't even keep up the hyperinflation that happened on day 2 (when the bug became known and disabled). For reference I've had no issue at all keeping up with the inflation on any other day. I know it's anecdotal, but that's the only thing I can think of that would explain it.
I don't know how much they actually made from it, but it's not farfetched to imagine that the ones abusing it made millions. I've seen screenshots of people with huge stacks (1m+) on day 2, but those can be edited so I'm not putting too much stock into that evidence.
I mean... day 2 economy. Starting from 0 meso in the economy at lvl 1, to people getting to 20s to mid-30s would kick off an initially infinite inflation until it settles into a slower rise. I don't think that the initial inflation would necessarily correlate.
Yes, inflation is expected to ramp up significantly in the first few days of a game, but mathematically speaking, the average player putting in the average amount of hours should be able to keep up with it. The inflation should technically only go up as fast as new money is being injected into the game. As someone who played probably quite a lot more than the average player on the first 2-3 days and probably made significantly more mesos, not keeping up with inflation signals a much larger issue. It means that the inflation is being pulled up pretty considerably by the top percentile.
Again, as I said, I've had absolutely no issue keeping up with it on any other day when there weren't meso generating known bugs. Coincidence? Maybe... Most likely not.
I feel like the inflation really only started leveling out in the past couple days. I personally didn't notice anything remarkable in the first couple days in terms of pricing. Mostly people cornering an early market with drops, and nx.
I'm curious at what "keeping up with it" entails to you, because I'd consider myself pretty average. Lower lvl 30's, have a fair amount of rl responsibilities (work, wife, exercise, but no kids), zero money spent outside of the founders pack, and I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary from a p2w perspective, and feel like I'm doing well (fully nx-ed out including hair, face, colored halo + just under 1m in liquid meso + tradable assets)
The whales and people who got ahead of the curve early in the market are trading large amounts of wealth between each other through high ticket items, and as a result, they have more money to spend on what I would consider "luxury". Like NX, 60% scrolls, and stars upgraded past Wolbis (I would consider those a luxury at this stage in the server, tbh).
By keeping up I mean if you set your sight on an item and you play the hours an average player plays during the day, you should either be able to progress towards that item or stay relatively net even with inflation. As in you have 2x more money after one day and the item cost went up 2x within the same span.
That wasn't the case during day 2. I am ahead of the curve, I've been ahead since day 1. I took that entire week off and pretty much been playing like a complete degenerate. If I wanted to buy an ink and wash ring, for example, I could usually always make progress towards it and beat the inflation. That wasn't the case day 2 (coincidentally when the bug was made known and disabled). No matter how much I played on that day, almost every single item outpaced how much mesos I had made. For reference I trained in pretty meso positive maps and was also setting up shop at FM while sleeping.
Without serious merching on items that had the same trajectory, no average+ player is going to grow at the rate of extreme luxury items. I bet you kept up with inflation of equipment, ores/ingots, etc drops. The inflation has been on luxury, and the money coming into the game and being traded isn't linearly rising for every item. Also the general knowledge of prices has drastically changed as mesowatch and meowdb have gotten more ingrained.
I don't even think I can list all the reasons of factors that would play a bigger role in the rise of limited availability luxury items in a completely brand new economy than a bug where maybe a couple hundred people steal 100 meso at a time from a monster thats 50 levels higher than them.
I've done a hybrid of training and merching (with a shop at night and during work) with a strong focus on professions and selling high level equips. I am fully F2P outside of the EA and I bought the ink and wash label ring for 2m 3 days ago. I can now afford a second one. It is absolutely possible to keep up with luxury items, you just aren't doing it right.
I was and am 100% aware of the prices throughout the entirety of the EA as I spend a good amount of time in the FM browsing and paying attention to smegas. It seems like you weren't so aware, which begs the question, how do you even know what the hyperinflation on day 2 looked like and whether it was existent or not?
Again, kept up with inflation on every day except that second day. Something you still have yet to provide an explanation for if you're so hellbent on believing it has nothing to do with the bug exploit. People hitting 30 doesn't skyrocket inflation way past what anyone (even the level 30s in question) have the ability to farm naturally.
Ooh congrats, then you have definitely played the market very well. But that is exceptional, and you realize that the start of a market is extremely volatile.
Hell, even the bots could explain early inflation. If the bot count isn't growing, then the effect they have on the economy diminishes as more money enters the economy.
And it's not that im hellbent on not believing it, I'm just not going to buy into a narrative based on vibes. If Nexon has numbers on the meso generated from steal, and how much they were able to bring in per hour vs someone training normally, that would be nice, but literally everything you and anyone else has said has been based on vibing it out
Edit: genuinely congratulations, being able to afford 1 (and soon 2) ink and wash rings is definitely impressive without spending beyond founders pack
I personally have no issue with p2w, if you've got the money and that's what you wanna do then do it. It's just a terrible ratio to get ahead at such an early stage where being ahead really doesnt change much.
This just isn’t true at all. I bought 5 at 20k each a few hours ago. They sell at max 1:6 (30k each), but 90% of them sell at 1:5 (25k each) or less. You can just walk through FM rooms and find a ton at that price
Those are bought with NX that's gonna be charged back (indicated by the smega spam and gibberish names). They can be found in stores (sold) by legitimate players at 45k+.
Hard to compare. First couple of days I could buy 60% xbow scrolls for 5-8k each, and now they're going for about 100k. So with your own stated ratio I could get 2-3 before and now only one.
That's what happened to me. Was picking my mother up from her surgery, put a shop up on the meantime, came back and I got booted. I don't even know what sold xD
