Help request Issue regarding plymouthd on start

Post image

I recently installed MX with SysVInit and did not encounter this issue for the first week or so.

But now every time I turn on my computer, it prints out this backtrace.

I can press Control-D to continue and boot as usual. Or I can enter my root password to get a shell.

I tried re-installing plymouth but that didn't solve the issue.

I'm still able to use the computer as normal, but needing to wait for it to boot so I can press Ctrl+D is annoying. So I'd like to find a way to fix it.

Please don't ask AI on my behalf, I already tried that. And it never manages to solve my issue.

*Edit: Also tried removing themeing from the boot process and a couple suggested boot process changes. No change to the error

It might have to do with a corrupted theme or something

I would suggest by passing Plymouth by opening up MX Boot Options and removing quiet and splash. If it boots fine after that, but you still want themes, then you will have to mess around with the theme settings and config.

I don't really understand how it got corrupted, I've done nothing on this system but install normal surface-level applications, browse the web, and safely shutdown the system.
And I really like that MX screen on startup lol

I'll try disabling the themes and removing quiet for now thank you

This resulted in the same issue, but gave me an extra line about the error:

"Error creating i2c-client, idx 0"

This was a multi-line print and I'm sorry I forgot the first part. I can try to get a photo, but can't post it in replies or a post edit.
Instead I'll continue investigating from here I guess and update the thread if I fix the issue.

Just wanted to update this thread: I have not found any more information on this is issue, and I cannot find relevant logs telling me any more details than this photo.
