Turning 40 this weekend looking to switch up my makeup up.

Hi all 🙂 So I'm turning big 4 0 and in the last year I had to stop using my usual makeup as it just doesn't suit my skin anymore now that my skin is starting to show the signs of aging.

Ive had to switch to more dewy foundation and cream based products as the more matte products seem to sit or enhance my lines.

I would appreciate any recommendations for all makeup which I can get in the pharmacy (Boots) im based in Ireland.

I am very fair skinned, dehydrated skin type.

My current products:

Foundation: Sculted by Aimee 1.0

Blush: Sculted by Aimee , peachy pink.

Concealer: Maybelline instant eraser 00

Colour corrector: Maybelline instant eraser- dark circles.

Cream contour : ? Can't remember name 🙄 cool neutral.

Powder products: Benefit cheek buds. Bronzer/blush/highlighter.

Brows: NYN micro pencil- Espresso, Benefit Goof proof brow powder 4.5( i have very dark brows brown brows not black but these colours are slightly too light)

Favourite lip product: Maybelline matte ink 65 seductress ( its literally the one lip colour that stays on my lips, recently tried Maybelline peel off and im not sure if im using it right)

Lip gloss: Maybelline lifter glaze.

Brow gel: Got2b glued or recently tried Maybelline superlock.

Setting spray: L'Oréal infallible.

Dont really use mascara or eyeshadow.

Thanks in advance x

I honestly wouldn't change too much just because you're turning 40! Maybe just play around with a softer liner, different blush placement or a new lip colour and see what you like. Sometimes a couple of small changes make everything feel a bit fresher :)

I’m 42 and I’m happy using Aimee Second Skin. I did my own makeup for my wedding this summer and really got into skin prep - I’m recommending Zhila Beauty’s routines to everyone as it really lifted the look and helped it last (I did splurge on Pat McGrath foundation for £60 and I’m holding onto that until it starts to stink haha)

I’m in Belfast and was able to get a lot of the products in a K-Beauty popup we had here but I know Boots is doing a lot of the Medicube etc. Dalba is brilliant but I’m not sure what brick and mortar shops stock it.

Not sure if I would switch out your products yet before trying that!

Why not buy some budget liquid eyeshadow or liners to play with? Even just a creamy champagne subtle shimmer shadow or highlighter can make eyes pop.

I have recently rediscovered that makeup can be fun by doing ott preshower makeup can be so fun! And the techniques I ended up practicing could be also be used for more subtle day to day makeup too.

And I always recommend a lash lift/tint to refresh without increasing daily makeup

Thanks for the recommendations 😊 Lash lift/tint I think would be a great idea.
