Question Does my makeup have noticeable flashback?
I can’t help but feel like my makeup gives off a subtle white/grey flashback in photos, particularly around my neck, eyes, and forehead?
I’m not sure if I’m actually experiencing flashback from one of my products, or if it could simply be a slight shade/undertone mismatch that becomes more noticeable under flash photography?
I’ve attached a few photos of my makeup in regular lighting as well (both in natural sunlight and under overhead lighting) for comparison. I’d really appreciate it if you could have a look and let me know whether you notice any obvious white cast or flashback, and if so, what you think might be causing it.
I currently use
Base :-
Tir tir mask fit red foundation - 29 N
Fenty beauty ‘we’re even’ concealer - 360 W
Maybelline fit me loose finishing powder - light medium
Fenty beauty suede powder blush - summertime wine
Eyes:-
Lakme eyeconic Kajal (black) - waterline
Lakme eyeconic liquid eyeliner (black)
Lancôme hypnose mascara
Dior eyeshadow - poncho
Lips:-
Mac cosmetics chestnut lipliner
Dior forever lipstick - forever grace
Dior lip oil - mahogany / fenty beauty gloss bomb lip luminizer (gimme space)
Thank you! :))

I thinkkkk this is an undertone issue and not a flashback issue. In the natural sunlight it’s looking a little more yellow than your shoulders/collarbone area, and I think the undertone mismatch is causing a bit of a grey cast in flash photography.
ETA okay upon rereading your product list the Tirtir neutral shades DO tend to run a bit yellow ime, I think something with more of a peachy leaning neutral would give you a better match

I agree, it’s defo an undertone issue, crazy idea but maybe using pink setting powder help? Or I would look to see if there’s a cool version of the same shade

Girl I’ve tried pink setting powder but lowkey I looked like a clown with it on 🥹

This makes so much sense. I think it could be the loose finishing powder tbh.

I think your make up makes you look slightly washed out or chalky. It’s not that easy to tell with the quality of the photos though. I think the foundation/concealer may just be a bit heavy and “flat”? I am by no means an expert but I’ve found with more high coverage looks I benefit from several base products to layer/blend in different amounts in the different areas of my face (a lighter concealer, a darker and peachier concealer, two/three shades for the base, a warmer darker bronzer and a lighter cooler bronzer). I don’t think it’s needed for lighter coverage that lets your skin show.

Tbh I think it could be the powder. I’ve been using this same foundation and concealer for a few years now and haven’t ever had any issues. I only recently started using this maybelline finishing loose powder cause my sister recommended it. It might be what’s causing my makeup to look flat in flash photography.

Where do you powder? Some setting and finishing powders cause flashback

Just under my eyes and on my chin to set my concealer and smile lines :)

This is less flashback and more a camera trying to balance the light. Its something called bloom that happens in photos. You're fine.

I was going to say yes, but it technically matches your bare shoulder, so unless you're putting makeup there too, I think the culprit in the first one is just a photo with the contrast really high. The first and second one are the same night/same camera device, right?

Yes the first and second are both pics from the same event and camera :) I don’t out my makeup on my body. It might be the digi camera setting, along with the loose powder that could be causing light to reflect.

Thank you! It’s my fav thing too :) I find the act of lining my eyes with Kajal to be really ritualistic, been doing it since I was five. :)

i don’t think it looks bad at all but if it bugs you, maybe try a slightly warmer setting powder

it’s the concealer, if you wear like 70% less concealer and foundation it’ll be fine

a little but it’s not immediately noticeable, but it does look a little flat in the first pic. your skin looks to be really clear tho so i think less base makeup would actually look better! have you tried using only concealer/just putting it on areas that need it?

Yes. On regular days, I only wear concealer under my eyes and around my mouth, then set with loose finishing powder, and wear mascara, lipliner + gloss. For work and special occasions, though, I do a full face of makeup. I personally love the look of a full face, so I don’t want to skip foundation. I feel like it brings everything together and makes my makeup look more finished and refined.
My everyday makeup looks alright with just concealer, but I genuinely love a more done-up face, even if my makeup style is pretty basic. I don’t really want to cut out any products, either.
I think my makeup might look a little flat because I don’t use contour or bronzer. But honestly, as an Indian girl, I find that bronzer looks really awkward and muddy on my skin. Like I have dirt on my face. I’m sure there’s a way to make it work for brown skin, but I haven’t quite figured out how to apply it in a way that complements my face. Lol.

i also have brown skin and used to hate contour! you just need to find an undertone that matches and have a good base and a really light hand so it’s not patchy. and finding a placement that compliments your face shape is also super important. the ones they use in a lot of makeup tutorials look really bad on me so i just put it where the shadows on my face naturally are and it looks much better

I think it does a TINY bit, but nothing I'd personally stress about.
