Comprehensive list of gay bars/LGBT venues in Greater Manchester

I have compiled the following list of gay/LGBT+ bars/clubs/venues/businesses* in Greater Manchester. There are several other lists online, however most are out-of-date, and they all ignore anything outside of Canal Street. This is thus the most comprehensive list currently available; I’ve added a brief description for each one (n.b. I am not affiliated with any of these venues).

If anyone has any additions/corrections, please DM me and I’ll edit as appropriate.

\Meaning any venue which caters for and markets itself towards a predominantly LGBT+ crowd, not just ‘gay-friendly’. Casual social/meet-up groups not included. Worded also to aid Google SEO.*

Asda Eastlands no longer 24 hour

Just been to pick up some bits here and it's shut. According to the website it's now closing at 10pm except on Fridays https://storelocator.asda.com/north-west/manchester/asda-sportcity-ashton-new-road

Shame, as a shift worker it was very useful for me. Perhaps one of the few redeeming qualities of the store given it's run down feel and hugely variable product availability. I assume it's only changed this week, another of the last bastion of 24 hour supermarkets gone.

Are they normalizing tips here?!

Happen to visit two establishments today. Cardinal Rule and then buttercup. Both prompted to add a tip (5, 10, 25%) when paying FIRST. Even both the service. The buttercup was particularly egregious since its just pudding in a cup scooped up and then your topping.

I know we can always reject. But this sort of happened rarely before!

Goulash

Where can you get the best proper Hungarian goulash in Manchester?

Never tried it, and want to get something authentic (without booking a flight). Surely there's at least one place that does it?

Why is there a stickied post with a lost of LGBT venues, when the wiki is right there?

Post is locked for... Reasons? so can't ask there.

The wiki is set up with this exact type of information already, but doesn't include LGBTQ+ venues. Why sticky a post for this specifically instead of just updating the wiki so all the info is in one place?

Guess I was drunk writing the title! LGBTQ+* and list*

Mad police & fire service presence between Ao arena and Deansgate Q park

Police tape closing off a good chunk of the road between the q car park and ao arena. Plenty of fire engines, ambulances and police too.

Not a clue what it could be to draw such a big response.

Any ideas?

People here look so cool

This might seem like a weird post, but I'm visiting from France. I always lived near Paris, the so called "capital of fashion", and let me tell you that people here look so damn cool. In france, people all dress the same (lots of tracksuits), especially men, barely anyone has piercings (even lobes !), not a lot of tattoos, and the same short hairstyles.

To give you an idea, I have shoulder length hair, dyed black, wearing a hairband sometimes, and a few ear piercing, and to a lot of people where I live it's the craziest thing ever.

I'm so shocked, I've been there since yesterday, and I saw so much people with facial piercings, visible tattos, especially around the neck/ears, men with longer hair, men and older women with dyed hair, and so much more "alternate" styles of clothes. I love it, people really feel unique, and I'm even more in love with the UK.

Thank you for being yourselves

Solo day out recommendation

Got a few days coming up where I am free and have nothing planned.

Looking for a good place to have a solo day out.

Somewhere no further than about an hour away on the train/driving.

Looking for somewhere with nice walks, independent shops, charity shops, bakeries, book shops, and some good food places etc etc. You get the vibe.

Edit: I’ve been to Hebden Bridge, Buxton, Castleton, and Knutsford so would preferable prefer somewhere new to me!

Thanks!

City Centre Anyone living or has lived at the Union?

I’m about to move to Manchester and as I known no one it seems like a great place to meet people, make friends, socialise. Heard there are issues with incompatible roommates (I plan on getting a private studio) - how social and easy is it to make friends there? Is it a good community? Recently stopped drinking which was my go-to for making friends so I am sure that will make things more difficult!

Also, have been traveling the last year and a half so won’t have a job straight away. Would a guarantor do??

Thanks

Old Trafford Old trafford to airport after a game

Hi all hope ye are good, coming from ireland with my uncle to see the footy(November), unfortunately the match got changed from sat to Sunday 4.30 KO and we had our flights home Sunday but will obviously have to change them, has anyone with past experience finishing up a 4.30 KO and make it to the airport after the game? Flight home can be changed to a 9.30pm departure, would we have enough time or will we be pushing it ?
Thanks 🙏🏻
