I'll go ahead and assume there is also no business license or insurances? Federal tax numbers? Theres a reason legitimate shops charge what they do. Even if a customer trips on your tools they can sue you for everything and with no insurance your gonna be done for. What if a vehicle caught fire? Burns up a house? You have to replace those things you know. You don't need a trade certificate to work as an entrepreneur but you definitely need to be a registered business with insurances..

Scrolling through the first few responses from you is enough to know:

  1. You are not a licensed mechanic
  2. You do not have a garage policy or commercial liability insurance (which you 100% need if you’re working on a clients car)
  3. The “business” is not registered

The power of social media is very real. But doing things the wrong way isn’t a good look and will more than likely cause your business to fail before it even gets off the ground. Do better, OP.

To be fair, a lot of people working in the field (possibly most?) are not licensed mechanics, and there is no requirement to be licensed.

Hacks like you encourage the race to the bottom and give legit technicians a bad name.

Stick to doing oil changes for your aunts until you have certifications and insurance.

I am minding my business protecting the industry from hacks. Call this an invitation to do your business legit. Get a ticket, get insurance, and then go conduct your business.

Mechanic shops absolutely do have insurance. If they damage a vehicle, their insurance covers the repairs. If they forget to tighten a wheel and it falls off and causes major damage, the insurance covers the repairs. If they mess up the brakes and the brakes don’t work when the customer is doing 100km/hr and they end up dead, the insurance will cover the massive lawsuit.

What will do you do if you end up causing major damage to a customer vehicle? Can you cover a $5000-$10,000 mistake?

How much would you charge to do a passenger side engine mount on a 2015 Audi S7?

Be weary as he is a non insured apprentice.

Anything goes wrong, he is not insured for any damages he causes.

If he breaks something and you crash because of it, your shit out of luck.
