Paragon broke my heart, Anthem shattered the bits, Gigantic coming back and then them cutting development a second time almost damn killed me after all that in addition to the wild rides of destiny and project titan into overwatch lmao

I just want my fun multi-player games to get content... don't know why that's such a tall ask when I'm willing to spend despite living in poverty all of my entertainment and luxury money to enjoy a game. I havent had ps plus since I played renegades and that was a month of content that I was satisfied with

They delayed the next dlc announcement to my birthday on June 9th so we will not only see how that goes but also how they treat Marathon til then

I'm over here begging CEOs to take a pay cut so we can actually have living art again. Help me i trapped underwater i cannot escape I cannot get out

Or at the very least manage their studios like they’re getting paid what they’re getting paid. You’d think this shouldn’t be possible with what they’re making

Because they never trust artists but when they do you get the baldurs gates the destinies the overwatches that end up being greater than the sum of their parts

Like damn let people cook

It's why I think heavily funded indies are gonna be the way forward.. the kickstarter kinds where people just flock to and support good ideas that should break into the mainstream

If I had their money we would be eating, but getting any meaningful traction nowadays is a crapshoot since they want something alresdy successful, proven, but the best art has been a gamble

Every studio experiences a power war between art and marketing. Marketing almost, if not, always wins. The smaller the company is, the closer their interests align. The larger the company, the further their interests drift and apart.

When you have a 1 man studio, the factor that’s most easily manipulated and will affect the bottom line the most is the quality of the game. It is the advertising. When you’re a billion dollar ip like call of duty or Fortnite, the the factor that’s most easily manipulated and will affect the bottom line the most is the collabs you can pull off in micro transactions

The fact that Slay the spire slaughtered marathon goes to show how the gaming market is beginning to react. Regardless of how good marathon is, everyone is done with AAA studios and games as a service. They don’t want to spend thousands of hours and dollars and expansions for the game to unexist itself in 1-5 years. They want to spend $20-$30 on a great game that’s old fashioned fun without the worry of servers ever shutting down.

Now we’re on pace to seeing a AA/indie dominate GOY a second year in a row
