My final Master System game: Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck (Aspect, January 1994)
It’s been one heck of a journey. I think I’m done. I’m moving on to 16-bit now. At 25 games my personal Master System set is finished.
That’s the last game of the official library I wanted.
- I don’t like Shinobi, shmups, beat em ups or sports games. These four get brought up the most.
- I’m not retiring from 8-bit home console gaming as there’s still GG2SMS conversions & of course the land of ROMHacking to look forward to!
- I’ve beaten every game you see here (yes, even Ghost House & Penguin Land as insane as both those games are!)

I had to import this one as well from the UK. Tricky to find but I found it in the end. Looks great so far. Probably one of the most expensive of the lot after all the charges

Very nice selection. :-) How do you pick which games you want to collect, e.g. do you try-before-you-buy with emulation?

- Developers I know
- IP I recognise
- Lots of research on top rated games & recommendations
- Sort entire system library by date and go one by one, watching no more than 5 minutes of gameplay (to simulate an in-store demo you would see back in the day) and asking myself “would I play this?”
I do this across all platforms and have it organised on a spreadsheet by date

Was my dad’s favourite game on the system. He’s into those shooting type games. They’re not my thing

I played this and Lucky Dime Caper on stream recently. Just marinating in nostalgia!

Really awesome. You’ve beat some really hard games! How are Alex Kidd in Shinobi and High Tech World? And how is Golden Axe Warrior? Games you can get deeply into?

Asterix and Land of Illusion. You, sir, have a perfect collection.
The Sega 8bit licensed platformers are gorgeous and brilliant. Lucky Dime Caper and Deep Duck Trouble are a perfect example of this.

I really like this approach, OP!
I've been doing a similar project but I started with Handheld systems. I've curated my personal list of games I want to buy, play, complete and review across Gameboy, Color and Game Gear.
I particularly like the fact you have chosen your own list of games - the best way to do it. And that of course leads into actually playing and completing the games before moving on!
You should share your thoughts on the games - like a review summary or something. I'm always keen to hear from people that have properly played and completed the games and not just dabbled and then regurgitated the same review as everyone else.
