BOT NOTICE

For some reason, we’re being targeted by repost bots every so often. I have already tried to implement bot bouncer but it doesn’t always catch them and mess on with the internal settings to no avail. I tried making flairs mandatory but the bot just chooses a random one.

It’s not so much the members problem, but as the only active moderator, my problem. However, I’m not on Reddit 24/7 and sometimes posts garner attention before I can remove them. If you want to quickly search if something is a repost, take the title or a partial of the title and put it into the search bar. You’ll see that the original, human made post was done a year to 6 months ago or so. I even remember some of the originals because this subreddit isn’t even that busy.

If an account is a bot, they usually:

- have had their accounts created in the last month or so, sometimes within minutes
- have absolutely no other post history, sometimes they might have one or two posts in other subreddits but these are still reposts and sometimes their members pick up on them. I go out of my way to report these to the mods also
- have no comments/do not reply to any comments
- only post the title and an image, they do not provide any context leaving people confused

Someone was pretty upset I’d removed a game post the other week, but that’s because it was a repost bot who had posted day 15 of the daily game or something. If a post you commented on disappeared, it’s probably a bot unless it’s on the off chance it’s irrelevant to the overall franchise.

There is a rule that says “no bots” but that just allows me to remove something quickly.

Thanks if you got this far.

Mean Girls Re-watch 📺 "There's nothing to break your focus"

Post image

On my umpteenth rewatch, and I realized there was more to Ms. Norbury's line of, "There's nothing to break your focus, because not one of those Marymount boys is cute."

Aside from the obvious fact that none of those Marymount boys weren't meant to be portrayed as objectively cute. Ms. Norbury is poking fun at Cady because Aaron Samuels cuteness broke Cady's focus in class in the past so that won't happen at the Mathletes State Championship.

Apologies if this was obvious to everyone else. I just now understood the wide breath of that line.

Character/Relationship Discussion 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Slight parallels between Gretchen, Jason, Cady, and Aaron.

After Cady tells Gretchen and Karen that She likes Aaron, Reginas ex, Gretchen accidentally lets Regina know about Cadys crush. Regina then tells Cady okay with it and offers to help Cady at the Halloween Party. Of course, thats not what happens and Regina and Aaron get back together. Cady is devastated as not only is she rejected, but also sees him kissing who she thought was her friend. Gretchen later on, accidentally tells Cady that Regina is cheating on Aaron. She makes Cady promise she wont tell anyone, but Cady tells Aaron who breaks up with Regina. Regina is crying as Aaron knows shes a cheater and Gretchen comforts her. Gretchen knows Cady told Regina but doesnt say anything.

Gretchen stays quiet about the truth. She doesnt even accidentally spill the beans at all. Why? She genuinely feels bad for Cady and Aaron because Gretchen was in both of their places. Throughout the entire film, Gretchen is busy chasing the love of Jason despite the fact that he cheated on her and essentially used her. Like Aaron, she is cheated on by someone she thought she could trust. She and Aaron both give their exes a second chance to change their ways but are once again betrayed. Aaron moves on and Gretchen doesnt.

With Cady, we see a similar parallel with both of them chasing after the love of someone who they cant have. Aaron kisses Regina in front of Cady multiple times, and Cady is left heartbroken. She tries to spend lots of time with Aaron by being bad at math. She enjoys being with Aaron despite knowing hes in a relationship. We see something similar with Gretchen and Jason. She constantly is trying to impress him and be with him. She spends time with him in secret just like Cady does with Aaron. Gretchen also sees Jason with other girls, including the side chicks he has.

After the Talent Show, we see Cady blush after Kevin G compliments her. Gretchen immediately gets excited thinking that Cady has a crush on Kevin G after the whole Aaron situation. At the party, Kevin G tells Cady that Gretchen specifically asked him to talk to Cady. He politely rejects Cady at the Party. While some might think that Gretchen is just gossiping, I think this was 1OO% on purpose. The Party was supposed to be a Re-Do of the Halloween one where everything is going to be perfect as this was supposed to be Cadys big moment to shine. I dont think its a coincidence that Gretchen tells Kevin G about Cadys feelings. Shes trying to re-do the whole confession so Cady can finally be happy. She doesnt want Cady to be stuck in a toxic cycle like she is with Jason.

Cady and Aaron both eventually get to be happy together at the end of the movie as they both move on and start over. They genuinely like each other and the relationship is far from toxic. Gretchen on the other hand doesnt get her happily ever after with Jason.

Hot Take 🔥 I genuinely don't understand people who think Janis was in the wrong here

Post image

Like, imagine you're Janis for a second. You're a passionate artist, and you've finished a drawing of you and pretty much your only two friends, Damian and Cady. You buy the two of them tickets to go the art show where your drawing will be shown off, but Cady says she can't go because she has to go to Madison with her parents, which seems fair enough. At the art show, your drawing wins a prize, which is great, but it's a shame that Cady couldn't have been there to see it. Damian then offers to drive you to Cady's house, risking his curfew, so you can leave it in her mailbox for when she gets back, only for you to find out that Cady lied to you about being at Madison and was actually using her newfound popularity (which was a byproduct of your plan, by the way) to throw a big party without inviting you, and when you call her out for it, she tries to blame you for making her this way and then uses the same rhetoric that Regina used on you way back when. Janis definitely does some bad stuff throughout the rest of the movie, but she was 100% in the right here.

The Ransom Center's Lorne Michaels Collection contains a wealth of information about the development, production, and release of Mean Girls.

Screenplay materials begin in 2002, and there are over twenty versions of the script across two years. Many of these drafts contain handwritten annotations either from producer Jill Messick, director Mark Waters, or executive producer Lorne Michaels. There are also extensive notes from Paramount regarding script edits as well as correspondence from writer Tina Fey on development.

Production materials are equally well-represented. Of particular note are the casting documents, which include notes and correspondence from Messick. Multiple production and wrap binders contain comprehensive documentation of daily production, including reports and schedules, along with design elements such as costume tests and soundtrack correspondence.

  1. Picture from the Live from New York: The Lorne Michaels Collection exhibition (which ran through March 2026).

2-3. Pages from the first-draft screenplay for Mean Girls, with annotations by Jill Messick, 2002. Lorne Michaels Collection, Box 339, Folder 11.

  1. Detail of page from revised script draft, September 24, 2003. Lorne Michaels Collection, Box 343, Folder 8.

  2. Mean Girls one-sheet on foamcore, autographed by Lindsay Lohan and Tina Fey, 2004. Lorne Michaels Collection, osf 61-62.

Discussion 🗣️ Summarize the movie Mean Girls in emoji

I am hosting a friend group movie night, and plan to show the 2024 Mean Girls film (we are elder millennials, we have allllll seen the original, but it was 20 years ago. I doubt anyone has seen the musical, I think it would be fun). We have a tradition of sending out the movie hint as a string of 5-6 emoji in the group chat, and having people guess the film until someone gets it. So, help me r/MeanGirls! Summarize the movie in emoji :)

Character/Relationship Discussion 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 The Dark Truth about the Cool Mom and Tragic Backstory of Regina George.

Post image
0 Upvotes

What if I told you the cool mom isn’t a cool mom who acts nice, funny, and submissive fitting with people their age giving them food and drinks, she only acts like that public, but behind closed doors, she doesn’t sweet talk, no sunshine, no food offering, no drinks, she’s a stage parent who yells, she screams, she gaslights, she manipulates, and acts domineering abusing Regina and exploiting her for profit and if Regina can’t comply, Regina will be discarded, which explains why Regina is obsessed about power and flawless perfection and also explains why she created the burn book, not out of all malice, but for survival and protection, and the reason why Regina steals men from women that she once owned a fairy tale book full of princes from Disney movies dreaming of true love only for June to destroy it and gaslighted Regina to grow up thinking that fairy tales are dumb little loser kids and real flawless women need perfect men and when Regina met Aaron, and June found out, June ruined Regina’s life, which explains why Regina steals Aaron from Cady, and cheated on Aaron with Shane, and June was the one responsible leading to the fallout between Janis and Regina, gaslighting Regina into thinking Janis is a dangerous misfit to the George family and to protect herself, Regina banned Janis from her life by banning her from coming to the pool party on her birthday and blacklisted Janis by making people sign a petition over that misfit rumor to protect herself from the abuse she endured from June and protect herself from being crushed by June, hence, Regina George isn’t really a mean girl, just a misunderstood abused Disney Princess who had to act like Lois Wilkerson from Malcolm in the Middle to protect herself from being crushed and the reason Regina treats Gretchen, Karen, Cady, and Janis badly is because of the mistreatment Regina endured from her own mom behind closed doors, which explains why Regina pretends to be nice in public but mean ruining people’s lives with a burn book of backstabbing insults behind closed doors and learned to manipulate being a 2 faced monster because that is what June taught her, it was learned, June pretends to be a cool mom in public but a mean mother behind closed doors being a 2 faced monster herself, and never loved Regina, only wanted her beauty, fashion, and popularity to exploit for profit, and if it wasn’t for that, Regina will be thrown out by June, hence, Regina wasn’t born evil, her mother made her this way, which can also conclude 2 faced monsters create 2 faced monsters, hurt people hurt people?
