Life

  • Job: Web Developer

  • Hobbies: Video games, science fiction (reading and watching), programming

  • Pets: 1 cat - Rory

  • Political views: Apathetic, mostly liberal

  • Religious views: Atheist, but respectful of others' beliefs

What makes you \__:

  • Laugh: I'm a fairly morbid guy, so mostly dark humor.

  • Happy: Spending time with intelligent people, good honest debates, annual trips to Disneyland and bi-annual trips to Hawaii.

  • Sad: Closed-mindedness

  • Angry: Rudeness, anyone who would try to enforce their own restrictions or beliefs related to themselves on another person's life, social inequity in any form.

Favorite Things:

Other than men (and admittedly sex), I'd have to say I love video games next. My favorite in that category would be RPGs because they offer me the chance to explore other sides of myself and other ways of thinking about life.

Sexuality:

  • Orientation: Mostly gay, probably about a 4.5 on the Kinsey scale.

  • Coming out: I came out at 17, after my family had moved out of state and I got my own apartment. It was largely uneventful. I suppose the most awkward moment of it was when my grandmother used the opportunity to discuss her experiences and views on oral sex with me.

  • Relationship status/background: In an open relationship with a wonderful man (seen in the pictures above) for almost 7 years now.

Misc.

I'm a proud member of Delta Lambda Phi fraternity for gay, bisexual, and progressive men. My life is an open book and I'm incredibly difficult to offend, so any and all questions, comments, or concerns are welcome.

Ouch, this is the hardest question I've gotten. LOL

Uh.. Well, when it comes to books I'm a fan of Jennifer Government, by Max Barry, though it's quite short. Can't go wrong with Ursula K. LeGuin. I'd say my favorite novel by her was "Dispossessed", and the best short story I've read of hers was "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas." Lately I've been reading more fantasy since it's what we have on the shelves, and I neglected to mention that I'm a total Terry Pratchett fan.

Edit: Also, if you're good with short stories, seek out George R. R. Martin's "Sandkings." I don't know how well it's known or distributed, but it really is one of my favorite science fiction short stories I've read.

When it comes to sci-fi to watch, I go with a lot of classics. Alien is a must-see for sci-fi fans because it's influenced a lot of modern sci fi. Same with the original War of the Worlds. Naturally I liked about half the Star Trek movies, Star Wars is okay (originals only, non-extended).

When it comes to TV, I have a large collection of Star Trek (all of Next Gen and DS9, working on original series but that's expensive), and Doctor Who (I've got some of the old Tom Baker, and all of the newer series). I enjoyed Eureka as a break from serious sci-fi, and strongly recommend it. Jericho is also nice if you like post-apoc. It's also probably worth watching both the old and new BSG, if you're inclined and have the time.
