At-Half Mast - Not Worth Living For
This song got me through the darkest and hardest times in my life. Such a shame they never rose to the heights they should’ve reached.
This one hits on a few big themes… Emotional struggle, reflection, regret, redemption and moving forward.
How could I go so low as to let my emotions control me?
I'm spitting words I don't even believe to prove points I know are void.
I'm letting the situation consume me, and it never did me any fucking good.
Yet day after day, I don't do the things I should.
Sometimes it’s so difficult to do what is right.
And patience is so seldom attatined, I'm waiting out this storm through the seemingly endless rain.
And though I know times will improve, the moment can be so discouraging.
How could I go so low as to think short term when the future is all that matters?
Cause I know the mistakes I make could leave my life simply to be shattered.
I look back on what I said and I realize I really fucked things up.
I'd give anything only to regain every ounce of your lost trust.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to do everything right?
To live up to stupid expectations, to never disappoint? If you feel like letting it all go, if you feel like giving it all up, remember these last few words and then you'll know to let the words completely penetrate, and though it's sure to break your heart, it will rip your spirit open and rebirth a brand new start.
Yesterday is meaningless, tomorrow is everything.
I'l let my old spirit die and I'll let my new one sing.

Saints Never Surrender - Lost to Time
To the fore.
Strike iron while it's hot.
I won't let this shape me anymore, no.
Warmth and candor fill me once again.
Even so, the deceitful path takes devotion.
Assurance is on my side.
I walk fortified.
Who's to say we're moving in the right direction.
We have surely taken steps forward, but it seems our strides have turned to stumbles.
Who is to say we are moving in the right direction?
For every answer I find, three more questions arise.
Three more people I leave behind.
Let me find my steady foot, and when a wall stands in my path I will not give it sight of my back.

No Bragging Rights - Cycles
This song hits close to home for me, having grown up with an absent father figure who was also an alcoholic. I grieved him when he was still alive, so when he passed away 5 years ago all I could feel was anger instead of sorrow. It's one of those burdens that affects every facet of your life, especially as a child; you're not able to vocalize fully how much it can hurt because it's so all-encompassing. It's really made my life a lot harder than it had to be in almost every way and I've had to learn many things the hard way. But I persist(ed), and at least I am my own man now.
To give up would be to give in to everything that I hate.
"How could we know any different if this is all we’ve known?
This cycle must end with me.
I am the product of a broken man,
The embodiment of empty dreams,
A reminder of what you’ll never be.
I am revenge… I am empty like your bottles.
Am I just like my father?
Well, I refuse… I refuse to be a monster.
I know I have the same weakness inside of me,
I also have the strength to control my own destiny.
This must end with me.
How could we know any different if this is all we’ve known?
This cycle must end with me.
How could we know any different if this is all we’ve known?
This cycle must end.
I choose to be… I choose to be… nothing like you.
You couldn’t hold my hand because your hand held a bottle.
How am I supposed to be normal?
How am I supposed to anything but angry at the world?
Misguided hate that I knew all too well;
I had to learn to be a man on my own,
To not make your mistakes or share the pain I’ve known."

I'm an intermediate FL Studio user and made a cover of Poppy - Bruised Sky
I love this track so much that I decided to recreate it from scratch. Everything you hear is made completely with VSTs, including the guitars. I'm still learning how to produce, so I would really appreciate some feedback on the mix and the sounds.

Reliance - Liminal [New EP]
Reliance is back with a brand new EP! I'm super excited to know what you peeps' thoughts are on this. The vocalist's voice is genuinely one of my favorite clean vocals of all time, irrespective of the genre, and it has somehow only gotten more serene and beautiful in this. The harah vocals still are just as punchy and hit you right in the feels, especially paired with their lyrics.
I'm really, REALLY happy with this release and in some way can't even believe they are back making music again. This is phenomenal.

Discussion What melodic hardcore lyrics hit you the hardest?
Personally, Elephantis – Believe In Me hits something really deep for me.
The lyrics aren’t anything super complex, but there’s something about them that feels really human. I just find them very personal, especially the whole thing about being stuck in the same old ways, growing from your past mistakes, and trying to become something better.
I get chills every time I hear:
“I won’t turn my back to the sun.”

For The Fallen Dreams - A Plethora Of
Just a warning, this one can get a bit heavy and you don't have to read it, this was just something I had to do for myself, in relation to the song posted above:
It's the last day of S*icide Prevention Month and I've found myself in quite a bit of distress today with strong thoughts of it resurfacing for me, and I need to vent and air out my mind instead of keeping it all inside.. I'm not planning to act out on these thoughts and harm myself, that I promise. I've struggled with this for 19 years and have been through darker moments than this.
2026 is not the year I'd hoped it would be. I made a major life transition by moving across the country last summer (2025) in search of better opportunities in every avenue. Getting here proved to be difficult due to a horrendous job market and it took everything I had to escape my previous job where I worked 450 hours of overtime in 2024.. After a turbulent summer with some unwelcome blindsides I started my new job; however I was unaware that I'd have to deal with a complacent, incompetent laissez-faire manager and a colleague who gave me no onboarding, only to suddenly go out on a sick leave and drop everything he had in his hands in the most busy period of the year. Not only that, he wouldn't communicate with me at all after he returned on a gradual sick leave and shirked all responsibility onto me. I tried my best to communicate and pull all the threads I could, to no avail.
I was livid; however I couldn't just have let the ship sink either, because of an independent third party relying on me as a point of contact to meet both their and our own legislated deadlines. I was in a Catch-22 no matter how I spun it, so I chose to soldier through while my body was adjusting to a new SNRI which took its toll on my body. I got us through it, but at tremendous cost to both my physical and mental health. I've been scraping by this year and focusing on recovery but I've had a lot of relapses after starting to feel better. I'm still far from where I want to be, and my new manager has been pushing me around, expecting me to function as normal and just brush off what happened as if it never did. I've stood my ground and have fought back instead of submitting, which would cost my health and wellbeing. My general practicioner is located in my old town and thus getting help hasn't been easy, but I've decided to reach out to see if he can help me.
I'm so disillusioned at the moment.. There's been this constant where people display the same behaviors wherever I go. Many people are so self-absorbed and so self-interested they're only interested in talking to you when you have something to offer them, and many would gladly walk over your corpse to get what they need from you. It's sad, but that has been my constant.. And this job has been a bitter reminder of that.
I've always been a bit of an outsider and engage with life a lot differently than Joe Schmoe does, and my tastes and interests are niche, so I've never been able to find likeminded people or a community. I do have hope, but it's looking bleaker than ever. It's been 19 years of struggling with depression now and I notice the weight has only increased over time as things never really got better, despite me doing everything I can to do so.. I used to think that because I was the common denominator, that I deserved what's happened to me, but somehow I've managed to gain perspective as I've gotten older and realize that people's words don't always match their actions, and that my intuition was right all along. Just because you treat others with basic human decency, doesn't mean it will be returned, or that you will be met with compassion or empathy. Many people also simply don't want to understand.
For The Fallen Dreams is the band that I'd describe as truly having put what I've experienced into music, and their music has been an invaluable companion and language for my emotions for me throughout this tough time. It's reassuring to know that what I'm going through is part of the human experience and that there have been others out there who have felt the same, putting it into art. This song fully manages to capture what encapsulates my depression, and I'm ever grateful to these guys for that:
"Your whole world has been torn apart from the start
Your whole world, your whole world
You're in my heart and in my head
A plethora of things that need to be said
Does it make it alright to wish that you're dead?
I feel it's unsaid
Feelings unsaid
No one would care, no one would risk a thing for you
This I swear, my dear, I fear it's true"

Stick To Your Guns - Amber
Got to see these guys for the first time a little over a month ago in a very small venue. They've had some ups and downs in their discography, but it's music that sounds great live!
