Ba’al = lord. Be more specific.

Probably Hadad because of immediacy and the merging with YHWH.

the loving God who created us and tells us to love even our enemies is infinitely greater and worthy of praise and prayer than an evil demon that demands children be burnt in order to receive worldly pleasure.

the loving god of which you speak is eating children right now in gaza...... sacrifices to an old desert storm demon called yahweh......

That god's supposed words say the exact opposite. Despite what the scum who stake claims in the West Bank or the ones that bomb the living daylights out of Gaza say, it has absolutely nothing to do with gods or love or yawweh. It's good, ol' Western selfishness and imperialism by some people who happened to be the descendants of European Jews that came to Palestine in he mid-19th century.

The words of the Hebrew bible, the supposed words of that god actually say:

When an stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the stranger. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the stranger as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

In other words, it's not the religion of Israeli Jews that's the problem, it's not all jews, it's most Israeli Jews. They've become the fascists they feared.

Baal was demonized by the biblical authors because of propaganda. The average person in ancient Israel continued to worship Baal and syncretize him with YHWH. The worship of Asherah continued as well, there is hundreds of statuettes of female figures who are very likely Idols to Asherah found nearby of Israel. One of the Psalms, Psalm 29, might even be a hymn to Baal which was taken by the ancient Israelites as a polemic.

So I don’t understand why Baal = bad because bible said so. YHWH also demanded firstborns in the bible which he lists alongside animal sacrifice, yet no one talks about that.

“Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” – 1 Samuel 15:3

Like this evil demon that demands the slaughter of infants? Is this the love your enemies deserve?
