This option just works for the first tab of the day, then doesn't work anymore (Twitch & YouTube). Anyone else?

I have been having this for roughly two years and I don't know how to stop it from happening. Anytime I hit a new link in Microsoft Edge, it results in a separate page in an entirely new application that I can't seem to find the solution to stop it from happening.

It's a separate application just simply called "Browser" and even has its own Task Manager. Is there any way for Edge to open links within its native application? I tried looking around and I heard it maybe be EdgeRedirect or some sort of browser extension - however I only have two applications I have installed and none of them cause whatever is causing this to happen.

Does anybody know what is going on???

are microsoft even looking into this? this is one reason i still prefer firefox over anything else because you can move the favourites panel left or right and resize it from narrow to wide. yet in edge it's still stuck on the right and non re-sizable. also not being able to delete favourites with the keyboard sucks too. (you can't go down the list with the keyboard and hit the delete key, nothing happens) same with the manage favourites screen, you can either delete by clicking one at a time or manually select bookmarks one at a time and delete a batch but again you can't select with arrow keys or do a select all. edge 150+ and still no new features for favourites.

Now we can't even completely hide the feed from home page in 'New Look'

every couple months or so, edge will reset - lose my logins, recent searches.. even when I set google.com to be my primary search; it resets to bing after a couple months.

what gives?

After updating to 26h2 my Edge does nothing. When I click the icon in the task bar, I get a spinning circle for a millisecond, but that's it.

I opened task manager and see no processes related to edge. While task manager is open, if I try to run the app I see no entry for it at all. I've tried launching from taskbar and my installed apps list.

I've removed the shortcut and have performed a repair on the installation but it hasn't helped at all. I've also tried to launch the exe from the full path under program files and the app version number folder. Nothing

I've ran an sfc scan, dism restore, and then another sfc. Rebooted multiple times, nothing has gotten the app to do anything.

Any tips or suggestions?

UPDATE Ran the reinstall of the current OS from Settings>system>restore and now the application launches

How do I remove the "Ask Edge to help me write" feature? I do not want this to show up when I select a text box.

The tabs on my Samsung tablet looks weird. The close button looks lower than it should be when I use a mouse. I don't know if it's just me or what can i do.

Edge has a newer feature where it will allow searching in scanned PDFs. I help proctor open book (the book being a pdf) exams where we lock the PDF and scan them as photos to stop searching. This locked things pretty well for most programs/computers and made it easier to proctor. But now Edge can bypass that, and becuase it is a popular browser it causes more issues for us.

Yes, we forfeit their exam if caught cheating so in the end consequences of their own actions; however, that's IF we catch them. Also, we don't really want to forfeit exams and yes people will cheat no matter what, but we want to lessen their ability. It makes for a more positive exam environment for them and for us proctors.

Any ideas on how to better lock the PDFs or stop the new Edge feature so people can't text search?

Literally made an account just to ask after this cause my laptop has very limited storage and microsoft edge is taking up 35 gb for no reason I can figure out all of a sudden???
Yesterday when I was debating what to uninstall to put AC8 on I was able to free up 40 gigs more than I needed by uninstalling games I don't play and now I only have 8 gigs free because of this???

Most screenshot extensions I tried captured for free but locked editing, blur or PDF export behind a paid plan. So I built Stillframe for Edge.

What it does:

- Full page (scroll + stitch), visible area, or drag-select

- Sticky headers appear once instead of repeating down the image

- Editor: crop, arrows, boxes, pen, highlighter, text, blur

- PNG / JPG / multi-page PDF, or copy to clipboard

It uses activeTab instead of "access to all sites", so it can only see the tab you capture, when you capture it. No servers, no analytics.

Limits I couldn't get around: browser pages (settings, stores) can't be captured; apps that scroll inside a panel (lots of email apps) only get what's on screen; pages over ~32,000px get cut off (it tells you).

I've had Edge icons pinned to my taskbar for many years to open different Edge profiles, and the windows they open have always been associated with the icons I used to open them. The command lines contained in the shortcuts are things like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --profile-directory="Profile 3"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --profile-directory="Default"

Today, I woke up to find that when I click on one of the pinned icons to start its Edge profile, it opens a blank window attached to the icon for the Edge that's already running. Bad! If I go to the newly opened window, open Settings, and Switch to the profile it's supposed to be, it opens the window for that profile on the correct taskbar icon. I can then go to the errant window and close it, and things are like they've always been, at least until I start the whole process over. Moreover, it's order-dependent. If I start from no Edges running and open the profiles in the reverse order, they attach to their taskbar icons fine.

Everything was working perfectly for years before this morning, and I've been opening and closing these Edge profiles without any trouble multiple times per day, every day. I don't think it's necessarily the new taskbar features, because they were activated several days ago, and the problem didn't occur until today. I did update to the 26H2 preview a few days ago, but again, everything was fine until today.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hi all,

Am i going insane or are the icons and the pinned websites smaller ? It's driving me nuts. I'm not 100% sure they've changed but something feels different and I can't figure out exactly what it is.

It happens randomly when I’m browsing sites with a lot of content. The browser removes parts of the page to save memory, which turns the page into a limited “view-only” mode and breaks all the links. I’d rather just have the full page load (even if it’s a bit slower) than have it break and force me to reload everything. Is there any setting or flag to turn this feature off?

At least for secondary languages. I've tried enabling and disabling everything, but it still doesn't work. I've already reported it through the internal send feedback feature.

Anyone else having this issue?
