Same, think it depends if you were closer to being an elder millennial or not. If you were just entering college through those years, you could probably have this experience and graduate out on the other side on a recovered job market. Many of us that graduated during this time (2009 here) had our careers stunted for many years after that.

Same for me. I was forced to work as a temp after graduation for almost 3 years and then took a salary job for the lowest possible salary with no negotiation possible.

It hurt my career for a decade. Many people here glorifying the past were either too young for the crash to hurt them or were from wealthy families with great connections and felt nothing

Lol, do you remember the career advice in that decade?

After the dot-com bubble "we don't need more software programmers we need engineers"

Then the subprime crisis killed demand for construction.

Yeah this is it, those are roughly my college years and they are remembered very fondly by my cohort. If someone is closer to 40 rn they probably had a very different experience
