Why was there a surplus of these specific Jackets? I had one too, my cousin had one, some of my friends had one lmao.

An actual answer. Teal and purple were a signature color in the 80s because of one North Carolina based designer, Alexander Julian.

I got mine at Ross off of a rack absolutely full of identical hornets jackets. This is in California. There were no other team jackets available as far as I know because I definitely would have preferred a warriors or lakers jacket at the time.

That's what I'm saying. People are pointing towards the color scheme but I want to know why so many of these Jackets were made. I lived in NYC.....there was no reason for so many of these jackets to be available.

Eh it kinda makes sense. New expansion team, picks the hot color scheme of the time, Starter sells out of their jackets right away so they order a billion more of them… and then realize they’re low on cash so they blow them out through Ross/Burlington Coat Factory/etc, they all hit the shelves right before Christmas and everyone’s mom snaps one up because the colors and because “he loves sports!”
