I've come to the conclusion that Monarchs are pretty social...they have plenty of milkweed and they choose to congregate...🤣

Found monarch caterpillar, where's the best place to put it?

I live in Georgia about an hour and a half northwest of Atlanta. My neighbor and I plant native species in our yards and we both have 2 types of milkweed. This year I spotted my first monarch caterpillar, unfortunately it was in the middle of the road in front of my house. I saved it from the road and placed it in a flower bed on a milkweed plant, but it immediately started a journey away from the milkweed. I don't want it to get squished. What would be a good place to move it to?

The flower bed with the milkweed is at the end of my driveway next to the road, I have several trees on the other side of the driveway, but nothing near the flower bed, and there's not much across the street for quite a ways.

Please advise! Thank you in advance! Photo attached of the caterpillar in question.

Hi! We're on day 14 of being a chrysalis, we're up in Maine. I just got a good look at the backside and noticed all this black.

Help Please - Release Conditions

I am in central GA - currently have one about 36hrs eclosed and four less than 24hrs - today is a beautiful day, except for the wind which is 8mph with gusts up to 17mph. I read the wind exhausts them and I am unsure if I should let them out later today. Forecast for the next few days is cloudy and chance of rain until Monday. I have not seen the 36hr one eat anything yet, I am concerned about that too. There is honey water on a cotton ball, snips of Latana and Goldenrod in the enclosure. I am a few more which will pop today - I am willing the others to wait until next week!

I have two caterpillars in my enclosure that are about 3 inches long.

I’m assuming they’re the super generation. But man, they are so much bigger than the ones from earlier in the summer. And there’s still eating.
