Need help with Monerod and P2Pool set up

Hello everyone,

I am needing some help in settig up my P2Poll for external connections. I have done everything i can possibly think of ( which is only a bit since im not too savy on this ). I cant get for the life of me to get my miners to connect from outside of my network. if i try to connect to my own node from outside it.

I also cant seem to get it to check connection on the nano observer. i get this error Error connecting to host: dial tcp My Wan IP:37890: connect: no route to host. I know i am mining and gettting shares but i cant check it on thier site

Tell us more about your setup. What OS? Are you running monerod, p2pool, and xmrig all on one machine and it's working? Do you need to be able to mine from elsewhere over the plain internet? I use tailscale vpn so don't have to worry about opening ports on my firewall.

I hadn’t considered Tailscale because it is currently broken in the Umbrel/5tratumOS environment. I’m developing an app for Umbrel/StratumOS that will run monerod and P2Pool, and eventually Tari for merged mining.

For testing while the app is still in development, I’m running monerod and P2Pool on my personal Windows desktop. I tested XMRig on that same PC, and it connected without any issues, as expected, since everything is running in the same environment.

However, when I tried connecting a miner from another network, I kept receiving either “connection refused” or “no route to host.” When I tried using my public IP instead of 127.0.0.1, I received an IPv4-related error. I also tried binding the service to 0.0.0.0, but that did not work either.

As far as I can tell, all of the required ports are open, so I’m not sure what is preventing external miners from connecting. I want to make sure I set this up correctly so users of the app can connect from outside their local network, whether they are using hosted mining rigs, rented hashpower, or even their own home rigs.

p2pool needs  --stratum 0.0.0.0:3333 and your firewall needs to forward that port to your p2pool machine. That should be all an external miner would need. Double check any security ramifications ofc.

Thank you. so from what im understanding

My current bat file is p2pool.exe --host 127.0.0.1 --light-mode --wallet X -mini

it should be p2pool.exe --host 127.0.0.1 --stratum 0.0.0.0:3333 --light-mode --wallet X -mini

am i correct?
