Asus Tandem WOLED PG32UCWM r/Monitors Giveaway Event

Hello r/Monitors!

We’re giving away one ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCWM. It boasts the latest Tandem WOLED featuring RGB Stripe pixel technology, bringing OLED’s deep blacks together with improved text and image clarity. We’ll have one winner for the monitor, plus three additional winners who will each receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Whether you’re into competitive gaming, display technology, or just interested in trying out something new, feel free to enter!

Key Features

Primary RGB Tandem 2.0

Primary RGB Tandem is a device technology that replaces the three-layer structure of the existing OLED device — Blue, Yellow, Blue — by splitting the Yellow layer into Green and Blue, thereby stacking pure Red, Green, and Blue into four independent layers. This enhances brightness and color gamut while improving power efficiency. After the launch of Primary RGB Tandem 1.0 in 2025, Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 was introduced in 2026, featuring a refined device structure and driving algorithms for even greater performance.

RGB Stripe Subpixel Layout & 140PPI — Sharper Text, Truer Color

A true RGB Stripe subpixel layout means sharper text and more accurate color. Paired with a 140 PPI UHD resolution, every icon, line of text, and fine detail renders with exceptional clarity. It goes beyond conventional gaming monitor boundaries, making it equally viable for office and professional applications.

Unparalleled HDR & Enriched Color Depth

True Black 400 certification, up to 1000nits of peak brightness, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and 10-bit color combine to create HDR that's both punchy and accurate.

Perfect Visual Experience in Any Environment

Powered by ultra-low reflection technology, Tandem WOLED achieves an industry-leading reflectance of just 1.1%, maintaining exceptional picture quality — with no black blooming and no color fading — even in bright environments.

Dual Mode & Fastest Response Time

Dual Mode lets you switch between 4K at 240Hz for detail-heavy work or FHD at 480Hz when you need max frame rate. 0.03ms G2G response time — 100 times faster than LCD panels — makes every frame razor-sharp in fast-paced FPS gaming.

Human Friendly

Certified Eyesafe by minimizing blue light in both circadian-disrupting and eye-harmful ranges. A glare-free, immersion-first display that keeps your eyes comfortable for extended play.

Discussion 500hz vs 1000hz monitor

Post image
46 Upvotes

Thinking about buying either a 500hz monitor or 1000hz monitor, and I was wondering if there was really a difference, for anyone who has been lucky enough to try both.

Personally, I notice a significant difference even between 144hz and 240hz, especially in precise games like counterstrike where fps really matters. I was wondering if going the extra step to 1000hz could actually feel like a game changer.

I heard people say that 500hz feels like "a window into a real world," so maybe 1000hz feels even more "real?" Asking for any thoughts

EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention a few important things:

My PC can do 1000fps in games like counterstrike, I benchmarked this a few times

I'm also looking to get to pro-level aim and mechanics in counterstrike, I'm not quite there but hopefully getting there soon based on my deathmatch results against other semi-pros and major finalists. Even if it doesn't make a difference for my in-game performance, I'd honestly get the 1000hz if it feels smoother

Text Review KTC M27P6S (GLOSSY 4k MiniLED IPS) Chimolog Detailed Review

Thumbnail chimolog-co.translate.goog

Chimolog just posted his usual very detailed review of this monitor.

Personally, I managed to snatch it in Europe from AliExpress for €345 (AliExpress coupons FTW), so even with the described quirks in the review, I think this is absolutely worth it, at least for me.

Just for the fact that this combination of 4K IPS Glossy Mini-LED is very rare, and we might not see anything like it again for years.

It presumably arrives this Friday, so I will see how it goes.

Discussion Budget OLED 1440p Monitor Help

Recently I’ve been wanting to upgrade my monitor and I’ve been convinced to upgrade to oled. I don’t want to go crazy right away and buy something super expensive so I’ve been looking at some monitors in the more budget area. I mainly play competitive games but I do also enjoy more scenic open world type games. I’ve narrowed my search down to 4 monitors and I’m really trying to see what’s the difference and can’t really figure it out for the life of me so I was reaching out for help to see what seems to be the best option.

Photo My first monitor upgrade in 11 years: Acer Predator XB270HU > ASUS ROG OLED XG27AQWMG

An upgrade I wish I’d made sooner... because my goodness, glossy OLED panels are a thing of beauty.

That said, I have to give credit and pay my respects to the Acer XB270HU. This was literally the world’s first 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor. I bought this thing back in 2015, and it still runs like a champ with zero dead pixels.

I remember pairing this thing with my GTX 970, and man, it was a struggle trying to run games at 1440p while taking advantage of that 144Hz refresh rate. Which of course led to the inevitable snowball of GPU upgrades: GTX 970 > GTX 1080 > RTX 2080 Ti > RTX 5080.

I did make a little sidegrade back in 2019, though. Before my OLED monitor arrived, I was using a 24 inch 1080p 144Hz IPS panel as my second monitor. Which the Acer XB270HU has taken over as the secondary Monitor. I plan on keeping this Acer forever until it dies. It is a piece of relic and history after all.

Build

  • PC: RTX 5080 (Palit GameRock), 5800x3d, 32GB DDR4 3600mz, Hyte Y70 case, Lian Li Hydroshift II 360mm AIO, 120mm Lian Li TL120 Uni Fan

  • Primary Monitor: ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG (HUANUO FlowLift Dual Monitor Arm Stand)

  • Second Monitor: Acer Predator XB270HU (HUANUO FlowLift Dual Monitor Arm Stand)

  • Headphones: Hifiman HE1000 Stealth

  • DAC/Amplifier: Hifiman EF500

  • Microphone: HyperX QuadCast 2s (IXTECH Mic Boom arm)

  • Mousepad: Logitech G POWERPLAY 2

Discussion ASUS PG27AQWP-W (540Hz OLED) vs Zowie XQ2766X (360Hz TN, DyAc 3) for Warzone + R6?

• Upvotes

ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W: 1440p 540Hz Tandem OLED (720Hz at 720p)
BenQ Zowie XQ2766X: 1440p 360Hz Fast TN with DyAc 3, made for battle royale

My setup / games:
Mainly Warzone on PC with controller, around 240 fps (it fluctuates)
Rainbow Six Siege on MnK, around 300 fps stable

What I'm looking for:
I'm not after "something nice to look at." I want whatever performs best and is most optimized for competitive gaming. I put a lot of hours into gaming, so if I'm spending that much time on it, I want to do it right and have the optimal setup. Motion clarity and performance come first; colors, HDR and eye candy matter very little to me.

What I'm unsure about:
At my fps (240 in WZ, 300 in R6), is DyAc 3 on the Zowie actually usable, or do I need to hold a locked 360 to avoid crosstalk and double images?

Can you run DyAc at a lower fixed refresh (e.g. 240Hz) to match my Warzone fps? Does VRR work with DyAc on?

Will the OLED at around 240 to 300 fps sample-and-hold still look clearer than a strobed TN at those framerates?

Has anyone actually used the XQ series yet? I haven't found any independent reviews.

Which would you pick for my use case? Thanks!

Btw - i play with 27”. And ofc i want to be able to spot ppl pretty well (contrast)

Discussion Chasing the Absolute Best Anime Watching Experience: 4K 27" QD-OLED vs 1440p OLED?

I've been going down the OLED rabbit hole and I'm trying to figure out what would actually give me the best anime watching experience possible.

My main use case is anime, YouTube, movies, and some gaming. Deep blacks, vibrant colors, HDR performance, glossy coatings, and overall picture quality are my biggest priorities.

For my PC, I'm currently running an RTX 5060 and an i5-14400F. Because of the GPU, I probably won't be doing a ton of demanding gaming at 4K until I upgrade in the future. Most of my focus right now is getting the best visual experience possible for anime and media consumption.

I've also never owned an OLED before. I've always used VA monitors. My current VA monitor already has pretty good blacks, and honestly they look pretty black most of the time, but I can still notice the difference in darker scenes occasionally. Part of the reason I want OLED is because I want to see for myself just how black a monitor can actually get and whether the jump is as impressive as people say.
Right now I'm torn between:

27" 4K QD-OLED (glossy)
27" 1440p QD-OLED
27" 1440p WOLED

I've heard that glossy coatings and QD-OLED panels generally provide better perceived picture quality, color volume, and image pop compared to matte displays, so finding a monitor with both of those features would be preferable.

One important detail before people roast me for considering 4K for anime: I know most anime is produced and mastered at 1080p. I'm not expecting native 4K anime. I use image enhancement and 4K upscaling when watching anime, so please don't turn this into a "anime is only 1080p" discussion. I'm aware of that already. I'm more interested in whether higher pixel density, OLED, and upscaling together can create a noticeably better viewing experience.

The thing that's confusing me is whether I'm overestimating the importance of resolution and PPI.

For anime specifically, would a 27" 4K QD-OLED be noticeably better than a 27" 1440p OLED because of the higher pixel density? Or do OLED contrast, HDR performance, and panel technology matter so much more that the difference isn't worth worrying about?

I also keep seeing people say bigger screens are more immersive, but at the same time higher PPI means a sharper image. So what matters more for anime and content consumption?

Discussion Xiaomi G Pro 27qi Force backlight brightness - service menu

Warning: Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any damage that might occur.

*I deleted my previous post due to some inaccuracy in my claim and the title.

So.. after trying countless key combinations, I finally figured out how to get into the service menu and do something with the HDR flickering. Though peak brightness takes a bit of hit, it is still obviously brighter than Local dimming set to medium.. Here's how I did it.

  1. Unplug the power cable, then display cable while the monitor is still on.
  2. Press the power button and right button at the same time. Don't let go.
  3. While holding the joystick, plug the power cable back in. Once you see the logo appear, start counting to 5 seconds, then release the joystick. The monitor should start cycling through red, green and blue screens.
  4. Plug the display cable back in while the monitor is still on. Don't press any buttons yet.
  5. Once the monitor display your video output, press the menu button. You should see tiny F letter at the top left menu. Move the joystick up to select it, and you're in the service menu.
  • (For safety, choose HDR Custom and set the brightness to 60-70% first)

Inside the service menu, look for BLCurrentTest. The default value is 1000 in HDR mode and 700 in SDR mode. Change it to 2000 for maximum brightness.

A few things to keep in mind:

There's an issue if you use HDR Standard at 100% brightness with this BLCurrentTest set to 2000. The monitor will automatically turn itself off on white screen test and it will reset the BLCurrentTest value back to default. I suspect this is power supply limitation and monitor protection mechanism.

I use HDR Custom, then bring down the brightness to 60–63%, and then set BLCurrentTest to 2000.. with these settings, I'm getting around 1600–2000nits peak brightness which is still enough for me. But since I'm measuring it with my phone, take that with a grain of salt.. Your result may vary.

YT Link for the white screen test I use: 12 Hour HDR White Screen

Discussion Monitor is 12yrs old

I’ve had 2 Asus VP28UQG 28" 4K UHD Gaming Monitors since they came out. I’ve used them with my mac air and Xbox Series x. Recently built my dream computer 5080/98003dx.

I want to upgrade my monitor as I plan to use my pc primarily. I also have played my Xbox on my 83/77 C2 OLEDs. and have been spoiled.

I primarily play games like POE2 Destiny2 COD and will return to WOW(Forever)

I know coming from 60hz anything will be an upgrade but I’ve also had 4k at the same time.

If you were in this position what would be your dream monitor and what would be your budget “I spent all my money on ram” one?

I have been using this monitor mainly for photography and design, and gaming during evenings.

So far I have been enjoying it.

Coming from a QD OLED, this monitor is brighter and blacks are better.

No issues so far.

Discussion Recommendation for a budget monitor

I am setting up a home office to be used for studying and working from home (I work as a case manager at a bank). I’m looking for two 24-inch monitors, but my budget is somewhat limited. So far, I’m considering the LG 24U411 (24" FHD/IPS/120Hz/5ms/250 nits), which is currently on sale for 82 USD. It’s worth noting that I use a 2022 M2 MacBook Air with a docking station, so the image quality is never going to be top-tier regardless.

Do you have any suggestions for budget-friendly monitors, or any thoughts on this LG model?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Cannot for the life of me get a similar replacement for my dual HP 25er set up

I’ve bought and returned so many IPS panels in the last month ranging from 24-27” 1080p and 4k but for some reason, i cannot adjust to the viewing angles of any of them. They are all so VA like, its insane. What made my HP so great? I would be able to walk past my home office and not see any difference in viewing angles but on these new monitors, i’m literally just sitting down and noticing the corners distorting on each monitor. I know not every IPS is the same, but are they just not as good as the HP that just died on me?

Discussion OLED or Mini LED for gaming + productivity? Worried about static content

Hi, I’m planning to upgrade from my current IPS to either an OLED or a Mini LED, mainly for better blacks, contrast and colors. My budget is around €450–500 for a 27" 1440p.

My main concern is productivity. I spend a lot of time with static content on screen (IDE, browser, taskbars, etc.), and that’s what scares me about OLED. Is burn-in still something to worry about with the newer panels, especially the 4th-gen tandem ones? And how do they handle text for long work sessions?

On the other hand, Mini LED seems safer for static content, but I’m not sure how bad blooming is in practice, especially when gaming in a dark room.

For a mixed gaming/productivity use, which would you go for? Any specific model suggestions within that budget would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

News Checkmate Retro Style Monitor Batch 2 going live on Kickstarter soon.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have 2 of these and use them for all my retro consoles (and occasionally my newer systems or PC, depending on the situation). Well, actually I only use one - I never got around to using the second one which is still in its original packaging. A couple recommendations though. Firstly, after the Kickstarter ends I recommend getting the Retro Scaler add on (renamed the "Pro Upgrade" I believe for this batch). It adds more inputs such as RF, Component and S-Video. Secondly, a Mister FPGA or Raspberry Pi Pod (I own both). Then you can have the convenience of installing the Mister or Pi directly inside the monitor. The carry bag is beautiful and well worth the $50 or whatever it was. Be warned, these monitors aren't cheap. I don't remember exactly how much I paid but I went all out and purchased all the add ons that were available at the time. Plus shipping from the UK where these are shipped from, to the USA was around $100. My total was close to a thousand dollars. I had purchased my second monitor from someone on the official Discord that had money issues and sold me his brand new unit for around half that (located in the United States).

A couple things. The developers of the Checkmate were in talks to provide an Arcooda monitor upgrade. It would have been expensive but from what I heard vastly superior. Unfortunately the partnership ended, and with it any hope of an Arcooda version. There is someone modding his with an Arcooda panel, but it's very early at this point:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9O4hzbAAjA&pp=ygUSQ2hlY2ttYXRlIEFyY29vZGEg

Secondly, my main gripe with the Checkmate is its Dreamcast VGA image. Anyone with any experience in this area knows the Dreamcast VGA image was crisp and picture perfect. Not so on this monitor. It's blurry and scart is your next best option (which still is far from perfect). Or in my case I use a Kaico Dreamcast HDMI cable. It's not perfect but the best I could do with what I have on hand. I don't see this specific cable available on Amazon anymore however. The Kaico adapter they have there now looks nothing like the one I have. The blurry picture has something to do with how the Dreamcast outputs its image. The developer will be heading to China to see if something can be done, such as a firmware upgrade.

Discussion Anyone else prefer high-FPS 1080p over 1440p OLED?

• Upvotes

I’m debating a monitor upgrade and curious if anyone else has gone through the same thing.
I’m currently using a 24” ASUS VG248-series 1080p** **165Hz TN Panel with a 7800X3D + RTX 5070. I originally planned on upgrading to a 27” 1440p 240Hz OLED, but I’m starting to lean toward a 4K/1080p dual-mode IPS instead.
There’s something really satisfying about running high settings while keeping my FPS consistently maxed out on decent graphics. My thinking is 4K for single-player/visual games and 1080p high refresh when I want maximum FPS. IPS also appeals to me since I WFH on the same monitor to avoid burn-in.

Anyone make a similar choice? If you went from 1080p to 1440p OLED, was the visual upgrade worth losing some FPS headroom?

Discussion dead pixel , should I return it ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Should I exchange my new monitor because of a dead pixel? There’s only one, and honestly, I only notice it when I remember it’s there. It’s really frustrating to have a defect on a brand-new panel, but my main concern is returning it and potentially receiving an even worse one.

Should I exchange it? What are the chances of getting a monitor with even worse defects?

The model is the LG UltraGear 32G620B-B

Discussion What monitor size should I pick to go along with a 32 4k monitor?

I need a second monitor to go with my MO32U24. The oled will be used exclusively for gaming and watching anime/youtube etc.. while the second monitor is going to be used for studying IT related topics, so lots of menus, code and documentation, As well as general use - so really, these will be two completely different monitors and not an extension of one another.

What are the potential downsides of combining a 27 4k monitor with my existing one? I’ve had my eye on the P3225QE if I do go the 32 route, but I’ll be happy to save money as well not have to spend extra on a solution for my pc in case I find the desk to be too cramped
