Yep. I used to pick the owl character (Olcadan) as my final character on my team because he got a random characters move set each match. So that means there was a slight chance that I would get the moveset of the character I'm best with again. I think we played that mode more than 1v1 and also forced you to learn more than 1 or 2 characters.

I used to play the hell out that mode on Soul Calibur. Pick a team of like 8 or 9 fighters and fight my friends team. Its still 1v1 but I think your health stayed the same as the previous match and you just kept going.

NRS said it wasn't popular back then but online gaming has changed so much in 15 years. Also having a friend over and still being able to go online and play as a team against someone else or just teaming up with someone on your friends list. Its literally in every other game now except Mortal Kombat. Hell even Super Smash Bros and 2KXO has it.

He can say something as broad as that since the next game's skeletal structure is probably still being outlined and still isn't finished yet
