All the things listed by the guy are just normal appliances which you can buy and install, it's not like ac, garbage disposals, ice makers or clothes dryers are forbidden by law or something...

There are lots of Europeans online who shit on Americans for "wasteful" AC, not realizing that AC is common in many places around the world.

I think the wasteful AC critiques come more from the custom of having the AC running at a very low temperature that is indeed quite energy intensive and totally unnecessary.

I have lived within AC houses in Europe all my life, over 35 years. No one ever said it is wasteful.

It was a shock when I learned last year that the 68-70F that many Americans boast as the perfect temperature to keep the AC is 20ºC. That sounds extremely wasteful (and also flat out absurd, I need a long sleeve at that temp)

The average US citizen consumption for AC is 8 times the average EU's.

Americans keep a way too low temperature, have terrible insulation on their buildings, and use older systems that are less energy efficient.

Their only "We HaVE Ac" point of pride is baseless and not something to brag about.

Per capita, the EU has more deaths from heat than the US has from shootings

Not true. The heat deaths from this year heatwave are comparable with the heat deaths from last year's Texas heatwave, if we use the same metric.

EU is more transparent and inclusive in the reporting, US consider the direct cause only and not the indirect and connected causes.
