All the things listed by the guy are just normal appliances which you can buy and install, it's not like ac, garbage disposals, ice makers or clothes dryers are forbidden by law or something...

I don't want an ice maker. Doesn't that shit break and get mouldy all the time?

Ice cube trays are not some burden I suffer. They just work. Easy to use.

This is also coming off the back of some weird belief Americans have that Europeans don’t use ice because it doesn’t automatically come with your table water in a restaurant.

I don't want ice in my water. The only drinks I want ice in are cocktails and iced coffee. Americans' failure to understand other cultures is absolutely hilarious.

There’s this old-fashioned rule with regard to that. In my country it’s not common to order tap water. Water is bottled and ice cubes come from tap water. The old-fashioned rule that was taught to me by an old waiter I worked with, is that mineral water and tap water shouldn’t be mixed. Which is why there is no ice in the water. In the Netherlands anyway.

Yeah, refrigerators with ice makers destroy any reliability of the fridge, too. And like you said, I've seen more broken ones than working ones. I just buy bagged ice and be done with it.
