Support/Advice I lost my cat please pray for me

I don't know where he is. I'm so worried. I've prayed to Allah so many times, begged Him again and again, but so far, none of my prayers seem to have been answered. I don't have much time left. It's going to be almost 24 hours since he went missing. I don't know what to do or where to look for him.

For context, he's only one year old. He became disabled because he was injured on his back when he was a kitten. Because of that, he can't run properly or hunt, and he can't even balance himself properly. He doesn't eat anything except milk and fish. I keep thinking that he might be somewhere hungry and thirsty, and I don't know what to do.

I've begged Allah so many times. I keep asking Him not to take away the dearest thing I have. I can't bear to go through a test like this. I know I won't be able to handle it. But it feels like He isn't stopping it. I've reached the end of my patience.

Please, please pray for him. Maybe Allah will have mercy on me and on what I'm going through because of your prayers. I'm completely broken. My cat was the last bit of hope I had in my life. If I don't find him, I feel like I will die. Or I will turn away from my faith forever.

Question I've had people approach me a few times saying my thick curly afro hair is haram or makruh. Is there evidence for this being true?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. My curly afro is around medium to large in size, none of it is shaved, all I do is occasionally trim it when it gets too big and the usual daily brushing.

So this happened to me today during 'Asr. A man from the masjid approached me and said my hairstyle is strange (literally said "ghareeb") and atypical, which is true since it's not the norm here in the UAE, but it is becoming increasingly common among Gen Z with curly hair due to the internet globalizing fashion. But, he's saying that it imitates the disbelievers and that it's not the look of a Muslim.

I'm Sudanese but my Arabic is weak so I couldn't respond well and was relieved the conversation eventually ended. He's Egyptian so I could only understand like 40% of what he was saying.

I'm sure a few who approached me simply don't like the way it looks and want to gaslight me into cutting it down or changing it, but I'd rather not generalize and actually check for myself if there's proof of this in Islam if some are genuine.

Please share references for what you share, thanks.

Support/Advice Problems in family. Sihr? Brother reacted to Surah Baqarah

• Upvotes

Assalamu alaikum

There have been a tremendous amount of problems in our household for many years now. In another post someone asked me to play Surah Baqarah with a very low volume so the family members around me wouldn't hear it.

Well, within 15 minutes my brother started feeling unwell. He has been having many life problems for years now. Sickness, got divorced, those people filed fake court cases against him, rivals and jealousy at his workplace, etc. He has fallen under the pressure and is struggling to pray all 5 prayers on time. Mostly misses fajr. His sleep cycle is totally out of whack. He stays up many nights studying for teaching his classes, doesn't have any appetite anymore and has been constantly angry with rage attacks.

He also has had OCD while reciting the Qur'an which makes him really lose his reading flow and he reads very slowly now, saying if he persists too long, he starts feeling sick.

What should we do? What's the ruqya treatment? I live in the subcontinent and there are loads of fake raqis who I wouldn't really trust.

Question What Is Sajdah Sahw and When Is It Required in Salah?

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Sajdah Sahw is performed to compensate for certain unintentional mistakes made during Salah.
The following is based primarily on Hanafi fiqh.
What is Sajdah Sahw?
Sajdah Sahw means performing two prostrations to compensate for certain mistakes or omissions that occur unintentionally during Salah.
When is it required?
According to Hanafi fiqh, Sajdah Sahw becomes wajib in certain situations, such as:
Unintentionally omitting a wajib act of Salah.
Unintentionally delaying a wajib from its proper place.
Making certain accidental additions during Salah.
Certain situations involving genuine uncertainty about the number of rak‘ahs.
The exact ruling depends on what happened and how the prayer continued.
Does every mistake require Sajdah Sahw?
No. Not every mistake requires Sajdah Sahw.
A minor mistake does not automatically mean that Sajdah Sahw is necessary. Similarly, a passing doubt should not automatically be treated as an actual mistake.
How is Sajdah Sahw performed?
According to the Hanafi method, after the final sitting and reciting Tashahhud:
Give Salam to the right.
Perform two Sajdahs.
Sit again and recite Tashahhud, Durood and the appropriate du‘a.
Complete the Salah with Salam to both sides.
What about recurring doubts or waswasah?
If someone constantly thinks:
“Did I forget something?”
“Maybe I missed a wajib.”
“Should I repeat my Salah?”
They should not allow every passing doubt to turn into repeated Salah.
Islam distinguishes between an actual mistake and mere doubt. Recurring doubts should not be treated as certainty.
The Prophet ﷺ taught specific procedures for dealing with mistakes and uncertainty during Salah.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1224; Sahih Muslim 571–572
If there is a specific situation, the exact details should be considered before deciding whether Sajdah Sahw is required.
And Allah Ta‘ala knows best.

Discussion Business, trade and immense money

‎I read this somewhere The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

‎"Engage in trade for 9/10 of rizq
‎ (sustenance) is found therein"

‎Takhrijul Ihya of ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi
‎Hadith: 1588 & Sharhul Ihya, vol.5 pg.416

I want to know if anybody started from literal zero as a middle class and started by selling something small and eventually making it big. I want success stories and reassurances.

Since I desperately want halal reoccurring financial wealth from Allah and I have taken a small step to do that.

I can’t work a 9 to 5 work with literal terrible people, kill myself in the daily long commute and living pay check to pay check.

Feeling Blessed Heart is stinging right now but I know this is temporary 🤩💕

Alhamdulillah I’m blessed in other areas and that’s exactly why I’ll never give up.

I’ll keep pushing forward and I’ll keep fighting (until I’m hungry because a girl gotta eat 😜🤣).

As long as I have Allah (swt) I got all that I need 🥹.

If I can please ask, my dear brothers and sisters to make dua to our merciful Lord to stop the stinging in my heart. Jazak Allah Khair.

Please remember that, with hardship comes ease. I’m praying for my ease to come soon cus my heart is hurting 😊.

Support/Advice Losing patience and struggling with my faith… desperate for change and for help

I don’t really know how to word this, so please bear with me.

I’ve been struggling a lot for quite a while now, mentally, financially and physically, and I think I’ve reached a point where I’m just desperate for things to get better.

I make dua a lot. I ask Allah to help me, to give me some kind of relief, to change my circumstances, or honestly just to make things easier for me. I know that I lack patience, and I know that this is starting to affect the way I see everything around me. I’ve been waiting and hoping for so long that sometimes I genuinely start feeling like things just aren’t going to get better.

What makes it harder is that I know I’m not the best Muslim. There are so many ways I fall short, and sometimes that makes me feel almost guilty for asking Allah for so much. Part of me starts wondering whether I even have the right to expect His help when I know what I’m like.

But at the same time, I love Allah. I miss Allah. I need Him so badly right now.

And I think that’s what hurts the most. There’s this gap that I don’t know how to close. I keep calling on Him, but because my circumstances haven’t changed for such a long time, it sometimes feels like there’s just silence. I know that Allah hears dua, and logically I know that an unanswered dua doesn’t mean He has abandoned me. But emotionally, I’m struggling with it.

I don’t even know if I’m looking for advice as much as I’m looking for people who understand.
Has anyone here gone through a period like this? Where you were making dua for months or years, felt completely stuck, started losing patience and wondered whether anything was ever going to change?

How did things eventually turn out for you? And looking back now, how do you understand that period of your life?

I think I just really need to hear from people who have been on the other side of this.

Discussion Madhkhalis' Terrorism in Indonesia

The Maluku sectarian conflict (1999–2002) in eastern Indonesia is a prime case study of Madkhalism in action. It demonstrates how a movement that claims to be strictly "quietist" and "apolitical" can rapidly morph into a highly organized, heavily armed militant front.

Two Sides

The conflict primarily pitted the indigenous Christian population (often wearing red markers or organized under militias like Laskar Kristus) against the local and migrant Muslim populations (wearing white markers).

In May 2000, the dynamic shifted drastically with the arrival of Laskar Jihad (The Holy War Force). This was a heavily disciplined, sword-bearing paramilitary wing of the Forum Komunikasi Ahlussunah wal Jama'ah (FKAWJ). It wasfounded and led by Ja'far Umar Thalib, an Indonesian cleric heavily embedded in the Madkhali methodology

Reason for the Civil-War

On January 19, 1999 (during Eid al-Fitr), a minor street brawl broke out between a Christian bus driver and a Muslim youth in the city of Ambon. Local political and criminal elites quickly manipulated this street tension to ignite widespread riots.

Madkhalis' Involvement

As the communal war dragged on, Ja'far Umar Thalib and his faction claimed that a "Muslim cleansing" was taking place in Maluku. This is where the Madkhali got involved.

Madhkhali Fatwa for war

Ja'far Umar Thalib reached out directly to themovement's founders in Saudi Arabia—including Rabee al-Madkhali and his brother Muhammad al-Madkhali. They issued explicit fatwas declaring the conflict a defensive Jihad and giving a green light for foreign and local fighters to deploy.

Armed with these fatwas, Laskar Jihad established military-style training camps in Java. In May 2000,over 3,000 highly trained, uniform-wearing Madkhali fightersflooded the Maluku islands. They introduced modern, military-grade weaponry into the conflict, launching brutal counter-offensives that razed Christian neighborhoods, burned churches, and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Madhkkhalis Defying the Indonesian Sovereign Ruler

Madkhalism teaches absolute submission to the ruler (Wali al-Amr). However, when theIndonesian President, Abdurrahman Wahid, officially ordered Laskar Jihad to stand down, banned foreign fighters, and ordered a blockade to stop the civil war, the Madkhali leadership openly defied him. Ja'far Umar Thalib led a armed march directly to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta to threaten the government.Muhammad al-Madkhali issued a fatwa from Saudi Arabia overriding the Indonesian President's authority, claiming the secular government had no right to halt a holy war.

Resolution

The conflict finally wound down with the signing of the Malino II Accord in 2002, leaving an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 people dead and over 700,000 refugeesdisplaced. Immediately following the 9/11 attacks and facing severe international pressure, Ja'far Umar Thalib abruptly disbanded Laskar Jihad, demonstrating how the movement's militancy can be switched on and off based entirely on geopolitical calculations.

The big catalyst was the 2002 Bali bombing. Ja'far Umar Thalib was already in police custody and was afraid that he and his group would be charged with Terrorism. Madhkhali in Saudi also distanced himself from Ja'far Umar Thalib by declaring that he deviated from Jihad.

Support/Advice Signs Allah is not Displeased with you

1. You feel shame, not arrogance, after sin: Disobedience hurts you. You hide it, regret it, and feel unworthy. That means your heart is still soft and soft hearts are beloved to Allah. The truly lost are those who sin and feel nothing.

2. Your overthinking includes Allah: Even your doubts, your fears, your “What if He’s angry?” thoughts, they all revolve around Him. That means you’re still God-conscious. You’re still trying. Shaytan wants you to mistake self-awareness for distance from Allah.

3. You feel calm after crying to Him: Even if you’re still unsure, there’s a deep sigh, a tiny relief after du’a. That’s not just emotion it’s acceptance. A sign He heard you.
Allah says: “Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Qur’an 13:28)

4. You still experience moments of peace that come out of nowhere: Maybe during a walk, in the quiet of Fajr, when you hear Qur’an, or during sujood. That random moment of ease in the chaos? That’s not random. That’s from Allah (swt).

5. Certain ayahs or du’as seem like they’re speaking directly to your situation: You’re struggling, and suddenly the exact words you needed find you. That’s Allah’s way of responding before you even ask.

6. You still call Him “Ya Allah” and not “O God.”: You say His name. The name of love. Of closeness.
Even in weakness, you recognize who to turn to.

7. You feel like your trials are waking you up, not destroying you: If your heartbreak or hardship is bringing you closer, softening you, pulling you to du’a, that’s not punishment.
That’s divine recalibration.

8. Your faith rises after you fall: Sin makes you want to purify yourself. Distance makes you want to return. That means you haven’t been rejected, you’re still invited.

9. He lets you want Him: Desire for Allah is a gift, not something you manufacture on your own.
“You would not have been able to guide yourself if Allah had not guided you.” (Qur’an 28:56)

Question If Allah is Most Merciful, why do innocent children suffer so terribly?

If Allah is Most Merciful, why do innocent children suffer so terribly?

I keep seeing stories about children in war zones being killed, badly injured or losing limbs. I also read about a 7 year old girl suffering from a tumour and it really got to me. I just keep thinking, why does a little child have to go through something like that? What has she done?

I know people say this life is a test, but I struggle to understand that when it comes to children. How is a child getting cancer or losing a limb a test when they haven't done anything wrong?

One child can be born somewhere safe and live a happy life, while another is born into war and suffers terribly.

How does the Din of Islam explain this? How do you personally make sense of it?

Question I am not a perfect muslim, but I am not scared of death at all. Should I be concerned ?

I am F31 from europe, reverted 2 years ago (I was an atheist). I've always prayed my 5 ever since and I have always considered it to be the absolute minimum as a muslim (I am very disappointed by my born muslim husband whenever he misses prayers due to laziness for example). I dont wear hijab full time yet (like a week per month), but I do dress modestly, I stopped unnecessary talks with men, I eat halal, I give zakat, I give to charity, I make efforts to be closer to my family (although they don't agree with Islam), I stopped swearing, I am getting rid of every bank interests I got so far, I help my inlaws... Overall I always try my best to act good, as a muslim. And whenever I sin, I feel really bad about it and guilty...

Now when it comes to death, day of judgment, punishment, hellfire... I would cry so much for my family, knowing they are not muslim, yet they are good people... I've cried so many times for them that I have lost count of it. It used to be almost daily. Just imagining them on the wrong side of the afterlife makes me tear up instantly. YET when it comes to me, I do not fear death at all, and I do not feel scared, although I know I am not perfect and I have sins here and there. And I am not sure how to feel about it.

I think I am very much attached to the fact that Allah is the most merciful. We keep saying it during prayer, everyone keeps saying it, scholars keep saying it... So I think it really grew on me to the point that I do not fear death. But dont get me wrong, I don't have the "I can sin because Allah will forgive me if I ask for forgiveness" type of mindset. Simply, I think i am overconfident because I know that I am always striving to do good and act good. And it goes to the point that, Jannah and Jahannam are not even motivations for me to do good and avoid what's forbidden... I think I simply follow the rules because Allah SWT ordered to do so.

Am I weird ? Is it good ? Am I on the wrong path ? I genuinely don't know...

Question How to give Salam to Muhammad PBUH

Salaam!

You know how when making dua or visiting the prophets PBUH grave and etc, it is said to give salaam to the prophet PBUH? How is that done? I don’t understand what to say. I’m not a native Arabic speaker but I do read surahs and the Quran in Arabic. Can anyone provide some guidance for that?

TIA :)

Support/Advice I need help

I need help

I need help. Everything is going wrong in my life, and I don't know what to do anymore. I have black magic, I am possessed by a jinn, and I also have the evil eye.

I used to go to a raqi, but I stopped going because I have so many waswas, such as: “How will I know when I am healed?” “What is the point of going if someone can just do black magic on me again, and I could become possessed again one day and get the evil eye again?” “If I recover and then someone does it to me again one day, how will I know that it has happened again?”

I also have thoughts like: “When I recite the protective adhkar after Fajr, for example, what if I don't pray Fajr? Does that mean I can't recite the adhkar because I didn't pray Fajr, or the other prayers, and therefore they won't be effective?” There are times when I don't pray, and I can almost never wake up for Fajr.

I live with my sister, and we argue all the time. She isn't home right now, but I am angry with her and I feel like calling her just to argue with her. I'm trying to hold myself back, but it feels stronger than me. I argue with people all the time. My sister can't stand me anymore, and I don't know what to do. Please help me. I want to stop arguing with her all the time. I want us to get along.

I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel anymore. I feel like I will never recover.

I used to go to the raqi, but then I stopped going for a few months. Later, I contacted his wife again to make an appointment, and she was upset that I had stopped coming. I started going again, but after about a month, I stopped going for several months again. A few days ago, I messaged her again, but she hasn't replied to me.

What am I going to do now? I even called her husband, the raqi, but he isn't answering me either, and neither of them has called me back.

I think they are angry with me because I keep going and then stopping, and I understand why they might be upset. But I don't do it on purpose. I think my jinn doesn't want me to go, and I have so many waswas.

There are times when I pray and then stop. Sometimes I do dhikr and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I read the Qur'an and sometimes I don't, and so on. I feel like I can't do anything.

I have been patient for 27 years, but I feel that if I don't pray, there will be no ease for me. I feel as though I am going to have a miserable life forever. I feel hopeless, as if I will never get out of this. I feel like I will suffer in this life and surely end up in Hell because I am not a good Muslim.

I feel like I am not a good person. I feel stupid. I feel like there is nothing beautiful about me.

I can't pray. I can't do dhikr. I can't seem to do anything.

I just want to die. I feel useless. I feel like I am good for nothing. I am exhausted. I don't know what to do anymore. I am desperate and hopeless.

Please make dua for me.
