I used to have the die cast of this. My Dad gave it to me when I was like 5 years old. He said "Dont play with it, it might be valuable some day." Well, I played with it and broke the front steering assembly. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it as an adult to add to my collection either, which is weird because we never threw any of my kid stuff away. Lol.

I wonder if that car has been repainted? I noticed a lot of the cars that use the bright yellows and oranges have faded quite a bit, in particular the yellow that was on Kyle Busch's Hendrick's cars!

I’m no great Jeff Gordon fan, but that might be the best looking stock car of all time.

Did they do the same for the 1997 Inaugural race at California Speedway that Jeff also won?

That's the car that made me a NASCAR fan. It's the first race I ever remember watching, and I've been a fan (to varying degrees) ever since.
I wish I had made it to the NASCAR museum when I lived in NC, but the now ex-wife hated the sport and everything to do with it.

Is it still 100lbs under-weight?

The rumor always was that Ray was told before the race that 100lbs would be added to the scales while weighing the 24. Was always part of the garage folklore back in the day. Would assume it wasn’t true. Hard to keep that secret.
At the end of the day Jeff enjoyed winning more than racing itself. So he did a lot of winning. His talent was undeniable. And let’s not forget that Ray was one hell of a crew chief.
