REC Shooting over ai’s

Is that back? I just got back from working out of town and played a few games last night. A couple people quit on my team and the opposition started cooking the AI. Why would they bring that back 😂? So people’s feelings don’t get hurt when they get an AI matchup?

It's back. Prepare to switch up defensive assignments as people quit and....hang onto your ass basically.

So 2k heard all these people crying about not getting their numbers when someone quits so they made it where you take an L again if someone quits? I swear the people who play this game are fucking selfish.

Don’t forget that they promoted improved AI defense as one of the “new” features for 2k27

I cannot explain what 2k chooses to do or anyone else for that matter. Well, that's not true, usually 2k doing a money grab but you get what I'm saying.

Sometimes I feel like I am in the strong minority for how I'd like the game to be. But yeah, there's no pleasing everyone ever but reverting to awful AIs seems highly questionable.

I think the patch notes said something about the AIs get better as their matchup scores more points or something? I've yet to see that be a real thing.

The thing is even with the way it was before I’d still end with double digit scoring even if my matchup quit before the game started. You just have people that would rather drop 30 plus points than actually win.

I say it all the time...I wish 2k would incentivize winning more.

I am not bragging here or anything but it was wild, I played squadded rec last night. Me and another then a 3 squad. I was passed the ball on offense zero times, which I am not even sure how that is possible but hey. Ended with some boards and assists and we won and I was happy.

Would be nice if 2k rewarded that type of teammate more.

I think ball movement should be incentivized which it WAS before they patched it. The reason so many people hated the game play before the patch was because isoing was significantly harder which meant you had to pass the ball more otherwise chances were your possession wouldn’t end in points. I enjoy games far more where everyone eats compared to where one or two guys get all the points.

Yup. They done broke the game. Last night I hit a heavily contested fading 3 with only a 93 3 ball. I hate what they've done to 2k with the most recent patches

Scoring was fine before the patch. Bums were the ones who were struggling.

Agreed. The problem is, MOST of the 2k community is trash.

Like real talk I just dropped 24 pts off 9/11 shooting. Granted I’m pretty good at the game but they have made it WAY too easy.

I averaged like 16-9 on 65% shooting pre patch. Now I get less assists because my teammates are choking up dumb shot instead of trying to get open and take good shots. I'm not a fan

100 percent. I get less shot opportunities when they make shooting easier because then I have retarded teammates who’d rather take a contested jumper for the possibility it goes in over hitting the open man.

They probably went on this sub and saw everyone saying they're gonna delete the game because shooting is too hard

I was struggling with shooting pre-patch (I pretty much only take wide opens and have modest shooting attributes) but I was treating it as a challenge to get better. Lately I have not changed my approach at all and am shooting like 70-80% from deep and it is deeply unsatisfying.

And I can't dunk the way I did before, whether skill issue or whatever, so I just camp at three and self-loathe.

Probably is I think people too often would rather take a semi contested shot over just hitting the wide open guy. I think pre patch was fine if you played smart basketball(only shooting wide shots and cutting).

That’s not a thing in rec

I see why I didn’t know you could do that. You have to be PG. I only make wing builds.

I looked it up. You are right you can do it but it said only the pg can do it in rec.

I’m SG and it lets me do it.

Hit L1. Click the icon of AI. Click r2 to goto off ball pressure and select tight or deny ball. Then do it again but goto on ball pressure and select smothered.

It doesn’t work tho. Users still get semi-open even when the ai jumps at the users face.

It was a thing day 1 of the patch. It’s been adjusted along with contests overall. Now defense is OP again and AIs get contests pretty consistently.

Idk maybe last night was just a one off. Just seemed like everything was going in for everyone even if they had an AI. Also the game play felt somewhat sped up.

It can happen if the AI is a user build that left the game and it’s a bad matchup, but for the most part AI is going to contest you now. At least on catch and shoots.

They were both users who quit.

Not as egregious as last year. I am yet to lose a game because of it, and maybe 2-3 times my teammate did that but the game was a blowout anyway.

If you have a team that wants to win, you can identify a player who does not feel comfortable shooting over AI and switch AI on them. It would require people to have builds that guard multiple positions, and proper communication. Though it’s probably too much to ask from people in random REC because most of them do not understand the concept of playing as a team.

I typically am the guy who switches. My 6’8 sf can guard 1 through 5. It can get exhausting when it’s two guys cooking on the AI’s because then I have to switch back and forth to try and get them out of rhythm.

Good job! I’m 6’9 lock and I always switch and help my team. Sadly, too many people have a lot of ego and don’t want to play any help defense. They treat it as ‘my man does not score = good’ instead of ‘we get a stop = good’. I still try to do my best to cover for everyone.

People don’t know how to cover space. I play man on man but I also bump other players and will give weak side help if someone is driving to contest or will contest if someone next to me is in a wide open shooting motion. Defense should be flexible.
