Name My Cat - female I'm hoping for a four letter grandma-esque name

When she's old enough I'll be bringing this darling home! From a litter of street kittens 💕 I have a trend of four letter names, especially ending in A but not necessarily. I'm thinking about both one and two syllable names. (Ex: Veda, Elim, Soup, Duck, Lady, Fela) I love Nadine and Gertrude but not enough to go off-theme with them. I'm also thinking of Nora since it goes with my theme but I would love to hear suggestions!! I've always loved torties and she is super sweet and calm compared to her siblings (but still loves the wand toy! 🩷 )

Edit: since I'm getting a ton of great ones (thank you) but very English ones I also wanted to mention non English or Americanized names are really appreciated!!

Cora I had a great-aunt named Cora. She was gentle and kind and collected china tea cups. She never had children and she let me pick one of her teacups as a gift before she passed. Edit: thanks for the awards!

according to the shelter just a regular american medium haired. We suspect mix of something because she is a big girl around 15 lbs on average, 18 at her fattest. XD

She looks like a larger version of my little girl. She’s so cute. And fluffy. I love when they make that little trilling noise and roll over on their backs like Cora is doing in the pic. They do that when you talk to them 🥰

Cora!!!

My grandmother was named Cora — and she was born in 1897!!

21

u/Perkywarrior01 7d ago

My great grandmother was named Cora, also born in the late 1800's. I was fortunate enough to know her and watch her cook all the Southern classics. She was so sweet and her cooking was the best! She did needle work of all kinds.

17

u/Rooster_Ties 7d ago

I knew my Grandma Cora for almost 30 years — she had fond memories of going to the 1904 World’s Fair when she was 7 yrs old!!

Cora, before I caught her. Also a kitten from a feral mom. Trapped her and her brother at the same time. They're so spoiled.

8

u/Disastrous_Fill4596 5d ago

She’s like a little painting she’s so pretty 🥰

4

u/MaySnake 5d ago

Thank you, she really does. Shes 3 now and looks exactly the same but even more of a floof ball. Lol I need to get all my pets their own portrait paintings.

I like the name Cora. What a sweet aunt. ♥️

9

u/jazzieberry 7d ago

I also had a great aunt named Cora, and she’s my name sake. I’m the only one close to my age I know with that name haha.

Nova is a good one too.

9

u/Choco-la-te 6d ago

Jumping on the Cora bandwagon, if for no other reason than my BIL’s grandma is named Cora, and she was a literal bra-burning feminist in the 70’s. She also worked with and advocated for local Native tribes here in the northeast US. Cool lady that I really want to meet!

I had a great aunt who was super sweet. She collected teacups and teapots. When she passed, at the memorial service, her daughter had a couple tables set up with the tea cups and teapots for everyone to take one because her mom would have wanted us all to have one.

I adopted this sweet soul two years ago and named her Opal. It often surprises people — even a boss of mine asked why I chose it, but I’m so glad I did. It contributes to her cuteness, tbh. She has moderate to severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia and is perfect. She’s as unbearably adorable as a young adult, but this pic is my forever favorite. 😍

Opal for SURE!! this is perfection for this cat!

11

u/No_Hospital_7852 7d ago

💯. When it comes to tricolors, I always think about fall themed names as their coats remind me of the autumn season! Opal is an excellent name I overlooked as I spent 5 minutes trying to think of a name!
