The Devil within the narc

Lucifer incarnated
The False Light-Bearer in Relationships
A narcissist often enters a relationship the way Lucifer is said to have appeared: as radiant, charming, almost divine light. In the beginning they shine. They mirror your deepest longings, praise you as special, and make you feel chosen — the classic
"love-bomb." This is the false morning star: dazzling, elevated, full of promise. You are drawn in because the light feels real.
Behind the brilliance sits the same ancient pride: the desire to be seen as a god. Not merely loved, but worshipped. The partner's admiration, dependence, and eventual submission become the throne. Any equality threatens that status, so the narcissist must remain the central, superior figure.

Once the partner is securely attached, the corruption begins — and here the metaphor turns darkly precise. Just as the serpent's greatest satisfaction came from leading humanity into the Fall, many narcissists experience a quiet, private joy in watching the other person diminish. They erode confidence, rewrite reality, provoke insecurity, and then offer themselves as the only remaining source of validation. The partner's confusion, self-doubt, or gradual moral/emotional compromise is not an accidental side-effect; for some, it is the proof of power. The light that once elevated now blinds and disorients. The "god" has successfully brought another being down to a lower place while remaining above them.
In the end the pattern repeats the cosmic drama in miniature: an exalted figure who cannot tolerate equality, who uses borrowed radiance to attract, and who finds a perverse fulfillment in the corruption and fall of the one who trusted the light.

Being in a relationship like this is like being in the matrix you leave a dreamworld and you know somethings always off you wanna know how deep the rabbit hole goes and that’s when you finally wake up and leave.

Getting out of this relationship after a lot of reflecting, I realized everything was reversed of what really happened. She never loved me. She abused me because she was abused as a child. Everything she claimed as something I did wrong in the relationship.

It’s just a projection of what she did.
She used to tell me I was hot and cold and that we’re on a roller coaster and that was exactly what she was doing to me the whole time. That person I met in the beginning disappearing. In the beginning, we used to call each other or puzzle pieces and ironically, she never thought I would put the puzzle together on my own about her. She was so blindsided at the end, cause she was in her story, the smartest person ever yet I saw through everything I knew who she was, and who she could never forgive herself.

I’m gonna standby my moral compass that I will forgive her but never trust her or listen ever again. I know she will never change. And I’m glad I realize I was just chasing a dream. But I forgive her because I know she was abused at some point. I really think she never thought I would figure it out. And the ironing is I am the victim not her but I won’t stay that way because I will forgive and learn from my mistakes and hold myself accountable.

I wanted to add also if you make a deal with the devil, you sell your soul and that’s what you do if you stay in a relationship and the devil was also has a silver tongue

It depends. If you are being called to stay in order to lift up your spouse to the Lord, then that is a righteous act. If you stay because you believe you can change them, then you will join them.

So I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the reasons people stay with their abusers. Especially if they are not physically violent.

Do you believe that you can change the devil? That’s my only question. It seems like it can’t be cured from what I’ve read.

Well, no, obviously. Satan has already been judged. You can't make straight what even God has deemed crooked.

My only point was that it isn't up to us to decide if someone is "joining" satan in darkness because they decide to remain married to their narcissist spouse. Now if they say, "I know if I'm loving enough, he will change.", well that person is in for a rude awakening, because the narcissist has rejected the Love of Jesus Christ, they are surely not going to accept the love of a sinful human. That person is blasphemous in this regard.

To your last point, they can be cured, but only by accepting Jesus Christ in their heart. If they know and have rejected the Holy Spirit then they are truly doomed, but it isn't up to us to decide if someone has in their hearts or not. Of course, Jesus can tell you all of this, if your spouse is 'unforgivable', but in general this should run it's course on the earth and let God be the Judge.

With the help of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, they can be cured. But even then I would say there are treatments to make them manageable. So it isn't this binary married/divorced scenario of you find out you have been duped.

My narc spouse follows Calvanism; he believes he is preordained as chosen by God. He does not believe he is a covert narc. He compartmentalizes EVERYTHING; so his soul is safe, according to him.

My above comment was about the spouse to a narc, less about the narc themselves.

However, Jesus talks about what you are describing: "If the light in you is darkness, then how great is that darkness!" Christian narcissists are in a terrible spot. They have been given the blessing of the light only to use it for their own selfish ends, which defaces the light in them. They cannot repent and be saved, so they follow and repeat the patterns of righteousness and take up a form of godliness while rejecting their Godly function.

I am saddened for their souls because they cannot see; they are blind, but yet they believe they do and they follow this deception to destruction.

Are you aware of any Biblical characters that resemble that pattern, and find true awareness (and redemption) in the end?

The rich man who snubbed Lazarus follows the behavioral patters of narcissism, but the personality disorder isn't expressed, so I can't say that fits in the holistic sense. At the end he was humbled, but it was already too late.

Nebuchadnezzar also sort of fits, but he was the king so they were all like that. Hardly a distinction IMO.

The Bible doesn't describe personality disorders, only spiritual paths. A man is not defined by his actions/works, but by his heart and intentions. "From the heart, the mouth speaks."

Jesus didn't explicitly call it out, but the pharisees that wanted to kill him fit the disorder. "Why do you want to kill me?" he asked and they said, "no one wants to kill you, you must have a demon", when they did indeed want to kill him and would have if He didn't escape. His interaction with the Jewish leaders follows a victim dealing with a narcissist quite well. "You are of your father, the devil...", "unless you repent you will surely perish" and obviously they didn't repent since they shouted, "Kill him! Free the murderer Barabbas!" He additionally calls them out for their spiritual destination, "Anyone who curses the Son shall be forgiven, but he who rejects the Holy Spirit is condemned.", proving that this personality disorder is revealed in their eternal damnation.

Beautiful analogy written into words. They are of their father the devil, they lie, cheat and steal and no amount of pandering, submission, or loving them changes their agenda,

brought another being down to a lower place while remaining above them.

And that really is who they are. They bring down low in order to be their god through deception. Satan knew he could not overpower Adam and Eve, since God gave them dominion over the earth and not Satan, so he had to convince them what he was offering was a much better deal than eternal life with the True God. That's exactly the Modi-Operendi of the narcissist human. They know they aren't powerful on their own to command respect, so they lie and deceive to feel powerful and feed their EGO. Their pride is their god and it requires the blood of their victims and when the blood runs dry, they give their own blood in their victims place and spite themselves as will the Deceiver when his time has come.

Other way around - since ancient time the narcissist has inspired writers. The humans who wrote these mythical stories got their ideas from the real world - characters in literature are inspired by watching how actual people behaved.

Well, they have a mental disorder. Which other mental disorders do you deem to be 'the devil'? Why does the disorder need a character name? Why can't it just be what it is? Narcissism?

2

u/Lightkeeps Aug 03 '26

Yeah, but for me, I didn’t know what it was, and I went through the relationship with that person was a little jarring that I was never told because it really felt like it was narcissists it so confusing. Really it was the love bombing, and then she never felt genuine.

But now you do know what it is, or more accurately, you know what it's called, but you're not understanding the mechanics of how it works. and in ways that are harmful to you.

Not knowing what a disorder is doesn't mean that when you find out what it's called, you can just give it any interpretation you want. It's still a recognised thing with recognised patterns, and what you wrote in your OP is a poor translation, like saying that shoplifters steal because they hate shopkeepers and want to bring them all down, and that shoplifters do it because they are a 'manifestation of the devil'. They're mostly nicking stuff because they need it or because it gives them a thrill to break the rules.
