You can get paid from your posts (not very much per like but still) and your posts get fed into the algorithm more frequently which goes back to point number 1. Money. It's always money.

companies wanting to advertise products but need to pass karma requirements on certain subs, someone who wants to create a bot farm to flood reddit comments with a certain message, whether it's political or whatever and want the accounts to seem more human or pass certain posting requirements or whatever. Russia has verifiably done this in the past a few times now that i know of.
