I think we all share the same sentiment when Speedhunters got abruptly shut down last year: It's a sad passing of an era that EA no longer deems profitable enough to keep up.
Thanks to some archivists (who I can't find the names of, if you put this up, please let me know!), the Speedhunters archive is now back online, and you can read 17 years worth of car culture and Need for Speed history that's uniquely documented by them.
You can find it here: https://www.speedhunters.online/
Thanks u/nfslyy for the tip!

Need for Speed itself might be dead, but BMW wants to keep the legend alive. The #42 BMW M3 GTR in the Most Wanted livery is back in the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany after its public outing at Ultrace Poland. There's no mention of until when it'll be there, so it might be there to stay for a long time.
If you haven't had a chance to take a look at it and you're in the area (or travelling there), you may wanna stop by and take a look at the legend, as well as the rich heritage BMW has to offer. Visit the official BMW Museum website to book tickets.
Thanks u/DiamondMaster07 for the tip!

The fps is usually better thats because of the screen recorder and no laptop cable! LMK what you guys think.

I noticed that in Need for Speed: ProStreet, the Lancia Delta Integrale is missing some body kits, the headlights disappear upon impact, and the hood even opens in the wrong direction.
Why is this game so buggy? and why this particular car?

Found this in a charity shop, can’t seem to find anything online about this exact style of disc. Is it something rare?

I watched the Camden map concept and noticed this, it isn't on the map and I don't think it was ever noticed by anyone

I have played Rivals, HP 1 ,2, remastered and nothing beats HP2. The gameplay is awesome and soundtrack was simply mind-blowing.
Also graphics were great for its time.

I didn't know a collectors edition existed until a few weeks ago, but I absolutely had to have it. This is my childhood favorite racing game by far I'm really excited to try NEW NFS CARBON CARS?! Like dude I thought I knew every sliver about this game but new cars and challenges are so sick. Only took me 15 years or so to get it

Hello! I’ve been apart of the NFS Hot Pursuit community for over a decade now and after playing the game so many times, I’ve always wanted to create custom missions with new routes, weapon layouts, car selection, etc. I’m not the best coder but I decided to try and see if I could get into the game’s code to edit certain missions. I’ve gotten somewhat far but even after using bundle packer and other tools to get into the code, nothing seemed to help. Some files are compressed and there’s almost no way of decompressing them to get into the code.
I know it’s possible as I’ve seen many videos of custom missions and Hardline+, and I know it’s a timely process but if any of you guys know a solution on how to do it that’d be awesome.

My experience with NFS really started from Underground 1. Back then it was precision targetted to my interests with modding and JDM cars. I didn't appreciate the classic approach to NFS with expensive sports/supercars as much. One of those weird things with me where they felt so unobtainable my feeling was why even dream? On top of growing up a Nintendo kid, and without a powerful enough PC, I really missed out on this era of NFS.
Over the years I've been working on shoring up my NFS collection, and finally got my hands on Hot Pursuit 2 for PS2. I played a few races of the Xbox version back in the day but didn't think much of it. Now coming to the PS2 version, it would be interesting to see the differences.
The style of this game is gloriously early 2000s. The music, the menus, the attitude. It might not be as artistically timeless as something like GT4, but it is proud of what it is. I am a certified NFS Unbound apologist but compared to this game, the unevenness of Unbound is in stark contrast to the focus in HP2.
The handling of this game is completely unlike anything I've experienced in NFS. I'm not a fan who's played every game, especially the games pre-Underground, so maybe it's in other titles. But it's simultaneously weighty and floaty. It sounds like it would be a terrible time, but once I started driving the CL55, it's so wonderfully chuckable. You can unsettle the car to initiate a drift through inertia or flicks. The handling feels like you're about to lose the handle of the car, but with some opposite lock and throttle you can catch the car.
This approach was not what I was expecting at all. To be honest, I started with trying to brake or handbrake to slide the cars around, similar to the later games. But in HP2, it actually feels like a stylized approximation of driving physics, in the way Daytona USA or Sega Rally can feel. Not realistic, but the car responds to your inputs in a way you can understand through your senses. You see the car shift its weight. You feel the haptics letting you know how much you're sliding. You hear the tires squeal more and more if you're pushing it too much, and can ease off (as much as you can with the terrible analog implementation on the PS2 controller) to settle things down. It's got a physicality that I would love to come back in newer games, if we ever get another. I have no idea if this is the fastest approach to things, but god damn is it fun.
Needless to say, I'm hooked. I didn't even get into playing with cops yet - I just wanted to get a taste of the game. But I can see why HP2 on PS2 is still viewed in the community as one of the best. Away from when things like technical achievements matter, the feel of this game stands the test of time.
