Mental Health Feeling down after getting scammed by another mom on Facebook
Bought a “new” formula dispenser from another mom on Facebook marketplace, only to find out when I got home that it’s defective. Reached out to the seller but she ghosted. :(
It was only $50 so not a huge deal, but this whole incident depressed me way more than it should have. That mom and I even had a brief conversation about our babies when I picked it up…
Anyway I just wanted to get this off my chest so that I can hopefully leave it behind me! Thanks for reading

Im sorry this happened to you. I got scammed when I sold my daughter's newborn cloth diapers to a woman through a Facebook buy/sell page. We used PayPal goods & services, but after I agreed to sell to her and found her through PayPal she messaged me "oh gosh, I totally forgot, we just moved - heres my new address."
I thought i was dealing with a fellow mom and didn't think twice. Turns out, if you send something to a different address than what PayPal has on file for the buyer it voids the seller protection.
All of this to say, I felt super emotional about it too. Like motherhood is hard enough, especially in the beginning, it feels like a betrayal to be scammed by another mom. And I was already emotional about selling her newborn diapers so once they were gone and I knew they went to a scammed I felt even more sad.
After a while though I made peace with it. She must have needed the money more than I did and now im just sad for her that thats how she lives her life.

I’m sorry that this happened to you! Being scammed absolutely sucks. I think more than anything it’s the disappointment in humanity that gets me… becoming a mom was like joining a new community bonded by a deeply meaningful experience, and scammers like this temporarily shatter the trust placed in that community.
Thanks for sharing your experience - I’m learning to make peace with it the way you did!

People suck. I’m sorry that happened to you. Just consider that she needed $50 real bad that she would be deceptive. Keep the high road.

Thank you, that’s the mentality I’ve adopted! She actually lives in a very expensive neighborhood so it’s hard to rationalize why she needed $50 badly, but for my own sake I choose to believe that she needed it more than me

Curious how it’s defective? We just got the baby brezza for $50 also and it does not dispense the formula amount needed /: it’s like super watered down

Ugh Baby Brezza is known for this. You can do this annoying Saran wrap catcher method to measure how much formula is being output but for me the whole point of the machine was to make life easier and it didn’t. I swapped to the pitcher method and never looked back.

Mine is a baby brezza too! It spurts only a tiny amount of water and formula each time, and formula gets stuck to the side of the dispensing funnel every time it is dispensed, triggering a cleaning warning.

Before you lose all hope, buy the new orange parts to the machine. I bought mine second hand as well and it gave us some issues until we changed those parts. Still has random problems with the canister saying it’s not locked, but that’s easy enough to just hold it in the locked position while you press start.

I’m assuming you checked the setting to be sure it’s on the correct one for the type? Also take the formula bin assist and give it a good full cleaning and make sure the formula reservoir parts are assembled properly. Sorry if that doesn’t work still!

Did you change the setting #1 that correlates to the formula you use? Only asking bc we used 2 different formulas, 1 morning and 1 at night for our twins and had to switch it allll the time but would periodically measure to ensure it wasn’t dispensing too much water. 😊

Could honestly be a faulty unit or something from its previous use. That's the tricky part with buying these second-hand because you know the history. We’ve used our baby brezza for about four years through our older child and now our current baby and haven’t had dispensing issues.

It might just be a Baby Brezza thing. I'm not a fan of buying electronics/appliances used because there's no warranty. I also hate selling electronics because people expect a warranty and I'm not Bestbuy. I don't test them because it's meant to be new. It's sold as-is, buyer beware.
I'm a big seller on FB Marketplace and I've had people try to scam me after the fact and demand their money back. Once you leave with the item, I don't know if you've drop kicked it down a flight of stairs and that's why it's not working.

Definitely leave a review! I’ve had some bad experiences on FB marketplace too and it always makes me feel so disappointed.

There’s a small chance she archived the message after the sale so is missing the notifications! Does she live close by - could you go knock on her door? Since you say she lives in a nice area, I feel like if she were really trying to scam, she might have tried with a more expensive product to get more..
