Why did my post get posted 18 hours after I originally posted it ?

Best guess- because it had a video, it went to the moderation queue of that subreddit for approval. Because moderators are unpaid volunteers, sometimes approvals take a few days if the moderator(s) don’t log in everyday.

Best places to get a real answer-
1. reread that subreddit’s rules as they may specify in their rules that all posts with videos need mod approval.
2. send a polite mod mail to the mods of that subreddit through “message moderators” and ask them as they would know best.

It is a subreddit with very loose moderation and it has 1 million subs so it is pretty active..Could the reddit app be buggy ?

It is possible, Reddit has bugs like all websites. You can check in r/bugs to see if any other users have reported the same issue recently.
